When helping one of my clients to find original NIKE products, I got in touch with one of my reasearched Chinese suppliers, and asked whether their products were authentic. I received the following reply:

"We are an authorization factory at China to produce Nike shoes and our shoes are original with top quality. After your first order I could provide you and your client with the authorized letter for your reference''

What type of questions could I ask this company to confirm this is not a scam and that they really are authorized to produce original Nike shoes? As it appears a little odd that they say they will provide me with an authorization letter after the first order?

FYI, the Nike manufacturer in China only produces for the China market.

All Nike distributors are not in China. / for export that is.

Nike has a lot of contracted shoes manufacturers around the world, mostly in developing countries. I believe that the factory you are contacting could be one of those authorized manufactureres BUT not an authorized sales/export channel. You should contact Nike or their subsidaries though they pricings would have kill the business before it start.

So, is it even feasable to find a legit Nike supplier? I know they are out there, but its like a needle in a haystack. Anyone know of a certain company?

Very easy, verify with Nike head office. Actually, after your message I would expect them to interfere and confirm if they have a plant in China. Most of European factories have plants in China, this is correct.

It's hard to determine whether or not a factory is authorized by Nike. My client was scammed by a factory just recently saying their shoes were authentic and even showing me a letter from Nike stating it was so. Upon arrival of the goods in the USA, it was confirmed by himself and several his colleagues that the shoes were fakes and of poor quality.

Not the best Recommendation for a sourcerer !

You have to know, that some factories will produce Nike's or other Brand's, but there is no OEM factory in the world with a permit to sell !

i doubt it if the factory you mentioned is really an authorized subcontractor of NIKE... Why? Because if they really are, they would not offer NIKE to you. By selling unauthorized NIKE to other people (such as you), they risk the ire of a BIG customer such as NIKE who would certainly not take too kindly to this practice. Why would this factory risk being black-listed or dropped by NIKE who is a very BIG customer fora new customerwho could certainly not approximate NIKE'svolumes?

If they are allowed to sell NIKE to anybody who wants this product, what protection would NIKE have? Why do they still need to spend millions of dollars promoting their brand if every Tom, **** and Harry could legally buy original NIKE from their subcontractors and pass these off as originals? Ask yourself these questions.

The only value you are getting by knowing that this factory subcontracts for the original NIKE is that this factory must produce good quality products. If this is the case, it would give you confidence tomaybe order shoesusing your own brand with the end thought that its quality is comparable to the popular branded ones.
