Problem with suppliers
Post 1 of 24

Hey, friends,

I am having a sourcing work for customer with suppliers in China.

But now we have a headache with a supplier, they are from Shandong, we paid our sample cost to them and left $500 on them, and ask them to transfer this $500 to us, sure, it is difficult to transfer by USD to us, but we asked them to transfer to our China RMB account, after sometimes negotiating with them, they finally keep quiet, even do not want to give us the sample or to transfer $500 to us. How can we do with this supplier?

It would be highly appreciated if you could recommend some ways for me.

Regards,

kenny

    Could you answer/clarify following first?

    • What is the product?
    • How much is the sample charge?
    • Why send extra US$500.- to this supplier?

I have a wonderful partner in ShanDong. I believe he could help. But I'm sure he would have the same questions I have.

Still don't know why you send extra $500 in the first place???

Similar situation happened to my company before. We received more than our invoice shown. We ask our customer the purpose of the extra, they say they appreciate our wonderful work, so they send some extra as a bonus. Perhaps your supplier in ShanDong treat that extra $500 as their bonus.

Why would you pay the supplier $500 more than the value of the samples and then ask for this back?

Perhaps if we understand the agreement between you and the factory on this we can comment about what a good next step would be.

At the beginning, we think of making two samples, but final changed to be one sample only. so there is this extra money on them.

My understanding of your situation is that you have a customer and that your customer paid a factory for two samples. The customer then decided only to get one sample and the supplier was asked to refund the other money to your Chinese RMB account.

I can understand why a factory would not want to send your customers money to you. So have you tried asking them to return the USD to the customer?

What about the other sample? Did they send that sample?

  • Actually this happens more times then not for one specific reason.  Indecision on be half of the buyer.  Just as with any business plan you need to be clear on what you want and only pay for what your getting, not what you think you might want.  As there is in the U.S. I'am sure that for them to transfer money back to you there will be a cost.  All you could hope to recover is the amount minus the bank transaction fee.  however as long as you demand the whole amount I think it will fall on deaf ears until you work it out amlicably.

Do not chase them too hard, everyone has the reversal mind. Call them everyday might not receive the best effect. Just be patient and be friendly. Anyway it is not a huge sum, I think they won't exchange their credit for 500 usd
