Hello.
I'm in the processes of setting up my own online based company supplying theatrical lighting and laser lights to UK and USA retailers. I've been investigating RoHS standards and although the British Standards sent me some brochures, I'm still not 100% sure if my products have to be RoHS standard. My question is, does my products have to be RoHS approved or will it be perfectly aceptable to supply equipment that has just CE approval?
Thanks for your help on this matter.

Actually there is a great likelyhood, the goods would be detained until such time that at a minimum the products can be authenticated as both RohS/WEEE compliant. CE alone only relates to low voltage equipment which seems not to be the business your in unless your equiment can operate on milli amps.

Ciao
RoHS is for European community (EN ISO 2005/95) for USA there are different normative.
Yes all the electronics appereils have to got RoHS standards, from july 2007are obbligatory,
besides I could add that you, as importer, have the responsability of this standard and
to import DANGEROUS material is a penal crime.
Be carefull about this topic with Chinese supplier , all of them say NO PROBLEM but
just some one respect this standard coz they don't risk nothing... the risk is your.
To be sure you have to got a test report from SGS or TUV or similar great company..
Be carefull when someone show you just a certificate, a certificate is issued on a sample
without the detailed test report where are showed all the part, you can't controll the quality
standards during the production and before the shipment ( and the payment ).
Pls check the article in my Alibaba pages too, hope will be useful .... good luck.

Hi people.
Thanks for your help in this matter, it's helped me look in the right direction. I've been questioning my potential suppliers asking if they've 1. Heard of RoHS and 2. Is their products RoHS approved. Some of whom have told me yes their products are RoHS standard but they can't issue me with an RoHS certificate so I know that they aren't genuinely manufacturing products that meet RoHS standards. Some have told me their products aren't RoHS standard.
If a manufacturer states that their products meet ISO9001:2000 reputation, does this mean their products comply with RoHS?
Thanks.
Neil.
Neil, yes it is usual, if they don't show to you the certs, this mean that or don't have or simply they are trading company or better cheaters. Anyway usually the great company, I suggest to deal only with this kind, could offer you the products with or without RoHS standards. They have both coz this standard is only for europe. Anyway I can suggest
you a company for your field, show lighting with LED technology. Please add me in your TM and see you later.
Ciao Cam.

HI, I souced the LED lights for my Europe buyer, and I also got the CE and ROHS certificate from the manufactories.
The light factories I worked with do offer the ROHS and CE safe certificate for their models.
I don't know what kind of lighting you are importing? Maybe I can help?
I think many light suppliers have these two certificates, or they can't sell their products to Europes markets at all.
