Let me start off with saying I love China, and the amazing products they create. Also i've known some incredibly nice and honorable chinese people throughout my 23 years and the world would not be this advanced without their aspiring designs. Now what type of people come wandering onto alibaba.com ?

1.)Business Men
2.)Greedy People
3.)Curious People
4.)Theifs
5.)Businesses
6.)Inexperienced People
7.)Lazy People

What are the basic obvious rules of buying items internationally when theres nothing you can do about it if you are robbed?

1.) Research the Company
2.) Research the Prices
3.) Read the Forums
4.) Search the Forums
5.) Check methods of Payment
6.) Ask for proof of legitimacy
7.) Watch the words the salesman says closely.

Who usually gets scammed?

1.)Greedy People
2.)Lazy People
3.)Inexperienced People

What happens when your a legit business?

After becoming a legit business in your country assuming they're all similar you can easily sign up to many wholesalers and manufacturers in your own country! They all will ask for a MOQ for cell phone companies it's around 5 units in the U.S. and for Electronic accessories i've seen it 10-50. But those options are available after you recieve the legal documents stating your business or company is legit.

How do people get scammed?

It's obvious, the consumers falling under various descriptions or classifications try to order really expensive items for really low prices so they can make tons of money saling the items and making thousands in profit.

Why does this not work?

If you see a community of thousands being alibaba.com and not everyone is rich and has huge corperations guess what ... it's not going to happen for you either.

How much do items really cost from wholesales?

1.)Video Games & Consoles - 80-90% of retail
2.)Consumer Electronics - 60-90% of retail
3.)Accessories - 20-60% of retail

What do businesses like BestBuy or Wal-Mart make the money off of?

Accessories.... if you've ever held a professional job in some degree of management at a sales company you'll know the key to profit is not to sell the ipod but to sell the ipod with a coupel additional accessories. Sure if you sell 10,000 80GB ipods you'll have made quiet a bit of profit but your only making maybe 12.00 bucks profit per ipod as you could make 50.00 bucks off a ipod dock.

So please people I dont like seeing anyone getting scammed. accept how business is and understand you have to work the same as any other corporation to become successful. and to finish this post ...

How do I get the cheapest price available for consumer electronics I.E. Ipods,Mp3's, hoem stereos?

Buy a quantity of 10,000 + and then you will only pay 75-80% of retail value.

Replying to [Meeka]: What distributor is going to sell at: "They all will ask for a MOQ for cell phone companies it's around 5 units in the U.S."

Distributors won't touch an order so small and its sure not going to be at 85% of retail. The biggest thing is if you know how to search you can get better deals on items for resale in your own country. Because freight and Duty taxes have already been paid.

There are entities like the AWA, NAWA, NAWEA, and over 100 others to buy anything at truely wholesale prices. You don't have to pay exorbinant amounts of money for wholesalers lists. To join one of those categories you do have to have a B&M store and the ability to buy more than just 5 items at a time. Most of them will also as for a DNB# as they do not want to do buisness with illegal businesses.

That is incorrect. I was managing a cell phone store for Cricket Cell Phones recently in League City, Tx last year. We used a company that was provided by Cricket Mobile or www.mycricket.com to those who want more proof. You can order any phone cricket offers but the MOQ is 5 units and the discount price off was 20.00 USD at most but usally around 11.00 for the razor and other expensive phones.

Oh and this also is because Wireless & Satellite was a legitimate company through Cricket Mobile who sold primarily cricket Mobile. I do not know any stores who have inventory's of 100 models in the back office. Cell phone prices raise and lower so fast it would be dumb to pay 272.00 for 1,000 units of this model if it was only going to cost 250.00 in a couple months.

Thanks.
