I have a friend who also was working at the factory .
She told me that the shipping forwarder have been charged them 2% interest because of late payment after one month.
I am surprised to hearing this news.
Is it their charge are reasonable ? or Is it we should refused this unreasonable charges ?
As she told me that because their customer are late to paying the money to them ,so they are late to pay the local dock charges to the shipping forwarder.
the shipping forwarder give them the message was this " 2% interest per month will be charged on overdue amount".
I think it's really a unreasonable charge ,although it's small .
Why suppliers should be paying more on this ?
What do you thinking of this shipping forwarder,? especially this shipping forwarder was named by buyer.

Actually thats not unreasonable. My question to your friend would be why if they had already been paid by the buyer, why they can't pay the forwarder. It's just simple business practice that you pay your bills on time and not ask another comany to finance your business.
Speaking from a U.S. business stand point most businesses require payment terms of either:
The terms for which any company is willing to extend payments for services already rendered is based on the ability of each company to pay its bills in a timely matter.
You need to consider the services of the forwarder the same as any product you sell from your factory. Can you afford to ship inventory to a buyer and then get paid 30, 60 or more days after you have sent it, or are you going to require that your buyer to put up some kind of collateral? The forwarder has rendered a service and needs to be paid promptly just like any factory.

Thanks Ranger .
my friend told me that they are paying to the shipping forwarder after receiving their customer's payment. because the customer are late to paying with them. that means when the goods have been already shipped one month , the goods have been already arrived at their port. after one month later, the customer are paying with the balance to them, and asking them to making telex release for the shipped already shipped.

Dear friend,The forwarder named by buyer asked 2% interest for late paying,it is unfair.
However, normally when goods shipped,we pay the forwarder(also named by buyer) first, then get original B/L from seaforwarder, then faxed B/L to buyer and got payment.
Herewith a question:did you have got B/L from this seaforwarder before client paid you?if you got original B/L from seaforwarder before buyer paid you,and you do not pay sea-forwarder,it is your business. It is also unreanoable that seaforwarder offered you original B/L,but you pay them when you got payment from buyer.
Whatever, sea-forwarder asked you pay 2% interest for late payment,it is unfair. Please asked your client for help, because it is him named this sea-forwarder.
I don't think that was reasonable . just because the responsibility of what made that happened is other side .not your friend.

There's all institution right to charge howmany percent to their customer regarding their loss of time of Value of their money. that's, once more, show us how important contractual agreement in many aspect and with many institution prior to make deal with export import operation.
There's no relation between customer payment and forwading payment, it's separate agreement from separate parties. We have to prepare trade terms better and that's why Incoterms 2000 created, it's define and responsibility of risks and costs.
