I'm new to import export. I've been reading the froums and impressed with how friendly everyone is. 


I found a lot of information about shipping from China to Europe. However, I want to ship form U.K to China.


Can anyone give me an idea of how much it cost to send a container from say London to Tianjin?


Anyone recommend any good services



Any other advice appreciated

It hasnt always been that way but with the departure of some members recently things have certainly lightened up here

Exporting product to China will probably not be too difficult but importing it into China is quite a complicated affair that should probably only be attempted by those with the relevant experience.

If you are selling your product to a Chinese buyer then they will handle the import aspects so just sell on an FOB basis and let them handle the actual shipping and importation.

If you are planning to import the products intp China yourself then you are going to need to do your homework. Best contact a local Chinese import company with experience with your particular product.

Just wondering, but has it become easier over the years to import into China?

If you honestly declare you don't know how to ship to China or any other country that you don't know, there are many ways

first you can try the famous shipping lines maybe it will cost you a lot but safe

secondly you can ask the foreign embassy in london or your embassy in that country

for sure you wil get the most reliable replies from the trade offices in embassies.

It is definitely much easier to do foreign trade now.

Just think  of how difficult it was to get things done before the invention of:

a. computers;

b. digital cameras;

c. the internet and email

You have to have full respect for buyers that were involved in this business prior to these inventions.

Hello Jack, the best thing to do is to get 3 quotes from freight forwarders. It is impossible to reasonably asertain such rates, you should be looking at something around USD  $4000 from the UK, however fuel prices affect things greatly.


Simply look in the phone directory, or worst case look in google, find 3 freight forwarders, give them the type of goods (important), their pallet count, dimensions of the individual boxes, and weight, and they can come up with a good freight rate.


As for it being easier to trade now, I'm not too sure.. in some ways yes, but for an intermediary now in competition with millions of fakes, the sheer amount of noise makes it harder in other ways.
