LC at sight & LC 60 days
Post 1 of 3

I have been working with customers on both payment term as TT & L/C at sight for a couple of years. Recently we are in discussion with two branded European companies. Their standard payment term is L/C 60 days.

I wonder if L/C 60 days can be conditioned as "draft 60 days after shipment date on bill of lading" instead of "draft 60 days after acceptance" or  I would prefer "draft 60 days after shipment date on bill of lading" as obviously the time to receive our payment is shorter.

By the way, will it be safe if we accept L/C 60 days for South African customer?

Some one who can give me advice? Thank you!

you can get your money after 60 days but it is safer. if you have fulfilled all the term and condition of LC. then there is not issue at all, except the 60 days delay.

That's a very basic usuance L/C for many brand name buyers.  The keyword being name brand.  Whats their credit rating within SA, and is the L/C confirmed?
