Hello:

I have a friend who has a grocery store in Manila and he's open for me to distribute goods from California, US (only because I am his friend) I am not into this business, I am a Human Resource by profession but because I want some additional income for my family and be able to visit Manila regularly I am very much interested to pursue my friend's proposal. How do you calculate cost, etc when selling goods from US to Manila, Philippines.

Please help.

Thanks

Hi My friend,

The best way to calculate shipping cost is to contact with the shipping company.

You need to tell him what procduts? How weight? How many? They will tell you what you need.

Dear Friend,

TO calculate COST centers for transport, first you have to calculate economic volume of goods to be transported to those city you are interested in selling your goods, Transport companies mostly charge you per weight, if you have light weight Items they have minimum rates for transportation also, Transportation is a semi variable cost, its fixed to a certain limit, after that cost per unit will be very low according to your volume of goods to be transported.

The formula to calculate your selling price is as follows.

(Cost of Product + Transporting Charges + Loading and Unloading charges + Taxes If applicable+  you should Include your fixed charges as well up to the period your lot will be sold+ Target profit you want to earn / divided by the number of units )

Friend you can ask any question, I am an accountant, my email ID is Edited by Sixer

To have an idea how shipping cost is calculated kindly visit the link:  http://www.theupsstore.com/qcc/qcc.asp

You are not clear how do you want to ship by air or sea and are you products ligh, heavy, size of the cartons, weight, as shipping by air will require these details.
