Hey,
I sent 3 inquirs last week (6 days ago) to 3 different suppliers, but still no answer. Is this usual, do everyone answer or should i try to find someone else? Is this a problem when trying to contact suppliers from China?
Best regards
Haakon
Hello Haakon,
I am sorry to hear that.
In fact ,I usually give response to the enquiries once I see them.but the result is ,there is no reply from the potential forever! so after many times I don't want to do that unless I am free.
Good luck !![]()
Hello Haakon, may be your inquiry did not get their attention, as sometimes there are many inquiries they need to deal with, I think most people will reply to the most valueable inquiry first. May be you can try to call them.
Quoting from [steven Yan]:I agree, I think my first inquiry was to general to get any attention. I will try to write a new inquiry, now with the respons from this thread fresh in mind.Hello Haakon, may be your inquiry did not get their attention, as sometimes there are many inquiries they need to deal with, I think most people will reply to the most valueable inquiry first. dear sir,.
u may assist u?.
what product r u looking for?
Quoting from [heshelleyatgmaildotcom]:Quoting from [Egernia]:Yes this is one of the biggest and most common problems when trying to make initial contact with suppliers in China.
Perhaps you could think that if a supplier does not reply to my enquiry then that is not the sort of supplier that you want to deal with and in that way you can vett possible suppliers.
But in my experience even suppliers that do not respond to initial emails can be good opportunities.
I recommend the following:
a. Don't use the contact system here at alibaba as you have no idea where the contact went and whether it even got through;
b. Make contact with suppliers directly through their own website and email addresses;
c. Send your enquiry to all listed email addresses at that factory as sometimes someone may leave the factory and an email address becomes inactive;
d. Make sure that your first contact states clearly who you are, what kind of company you are, and be smart about the
I agree with you!
information you request. Show the supplier that you know their product and their terminology so that they can see that you are a real buyer;
e. But dont make your initial email too long. Keep it to the point;
f. Send a follow up email after 5-7 days;
g. If you dont get an answer then pick up the phone and call them.
I often find that when I call the factories will claim that they never received the initial email but if you push them to actually have a look 90% of the time they miraculously find the email and then respond.
Good luck getting over one of the earlier hurdles in what will be many!!!
I like this answer, and moreover, introduce yourself clearly in the first inquiry mail and offer your full contact information such as company name, address, phone number, website and other contact information, so as to let the supplier know you clearly. Because some suppliers doubt the inquiry should come from the competitor and they are afraid to offer the valuable information to their competitor.
Good luck to you!

Last week was a National Holiday in China. Likely they weren't even at work. I have found China to be eager for new business and very good at responding to my inquiries. If you made an inquiry last week, you may get a response today. South America on the other hand...

Hi, Haakon,
In my opinion, you'd better call up the supplier after email to confirm with them about your enquiry.
If you show your sincerity in your email, I think they surely reply your email. No one would like to give up the business chance.
By the way, it is important to use your company email during contact, but not private one.
Any comments, pls feel free to make.
