Where in China to start?

In a few months I will be going to China to source garment accessories such as laces, buttons, ribbons, etc for a new company that I will be setting up.
After browsing the web, I noticed that there are an endless amount of factories all over the country that produce these items.
Since it will be my first trip I do not want to purchase the MOQs that are requested by most of these businesses. I would prefer to start on a smallish scale, and focus on a wider range instead of a few particular products.
So I was thinking the best place to start would be visiting small factories and markets, and I am wondering where in China would be the best place to start.
Another thought I had was going to Taiwan where businesses seem more centralised as it might be quicker and easier to do sourcing. Any input and suggestions would be appreciated?

About your inquiry,I advise you can focus on Zhejiang province of China.I am in Shaoxing city of Zhejiang province,there are many and many suppliers of textiles,about your accessories of garments,you can also come to Yiwu,it is also in Zhejiang Province,it is well-known by its commodities.These two city is only about 2 hours car far,and all is near Shanghai City(3 hours car from Shanghai to Shaoxing)
You can seek some supplier from alibaba.com from these regions.

If you want to try small quantities of each item , then Yiwu city and Guangzhou will be the best.
