This is difficult situation. I am hoping the order was not so big. I suggest you look on the Internet and find the headquarters office for the company. Call that number and ask to be connected to the lady you have had the contact with. If they say that no such person works there, then you have a big problem. If they connect you, then can either talk to the person, or leave a message. You can also try to contact their manager. In such a situation, it would not be looked at as impolite to go around the person and talk to manager. It is a bit of emergency. You need to say you have concern about the goods clearing the customs in time--not so much about the payment. But, of course, you need to also discuss the payment.

I AM IN THE SAME STITUATION AS YOU NOW
IT IS REAL BORED MATTER
Doing international business has its own personal risk if you do not take extra caution in checking the genuity of whomever you are dealing with as long as its not in person or the total goods and services as being fully paid for.
We regret to hear this but you should search the internet to check all availabe phone numbers and make sure you try calling it over time to be very sure of what is going on.NO matter what the cost of the good and services might be ,we should be very carefull in finalising contract in absence of some trustee.
Like i have always said ,You are dealing with an Italian,you should have a representative that will help you to check on the prospects of this company since you are being paid after your goods arrived their port.If you have paid 500 euro consulation fee ,this would have saved you from this public embarrasment of someone is running away from completing there part in this transaction.
If i were you in this situation i would have decide to travel down to italy ask a trusted fellow to go and confirm the company details since you have their address and other informations or DID you make B/L on blank name and address and with what finance organisation did they promised to pay through. Call their bank or ask any reliable person to fly in to go and make enquiry for you depending on the cost of goods you shipped.
