It sounds as if you are a Broker, selling the goods of others, if this is the case I need to know if you are attempting to sell via the internet, phone, in person...

First off, if your acting as an agent, its going to be quite difficult to get your start unless you actually have established contacts in a particular field of products. Prospective clients (buyers and sellers) need to know what value added service you are going to bring to the table with you.
To help you further, I need to understand your concept of what an agent actually is and does.
I have been a sourcing agent for over 27 years and I can tell you that clients will not just come to you and trust that you can help them. Your going to need some references from people that know you and know what your capable of doing. Once established word of mouth is your best advertising or can lead to your dimise, as there is nothing better than a satisfied client that talks of their success with other business people.
The fact is that much of the business that has sustained me over these 27 years is word of mouth and the fact that clients both buyers and sellers keep coming back to me as they expand their product lines and supplier or customer base.
My advice, is if you dont know how to or have an understanding of the following things that you look to first to work with an already established agency to gain experience and contacts:
Thes are but a few basics but without them your not even ready to start. Like I said earlier you need to have certain value added skills that you can bring to the table for your clients.
