You can't control what the sales people in Asia do as they just want the chance for a sale. Their thinking is that even though the product they are offering is not the same as what you are asking for that at least they have a chance for a sale on the hope that you may accept it anyway. If they were honest, and perhaps professional, and they told you up front that they don't have the item as per your outline then you would disappear and they would have no chance for a sale.
In the case of China factories have a terrible habit of saying 'no problems' and 'trust us'. I have no doubt that they believe at that time that there will be no problems, but when they do drop the ball and mistakes are made they go awfully quiet.
The good news here is that at least you now know which manufacturers NOT to deal with!
You can't control them but you can control yourself. So spend more time making sure that the product they want to offer is the same as the product you are seeking. Ask for photographs, test reports, technical drawings or technical outlines from the factory that show the product is what you need. If you ask them they will often just say 'yes no problem' so you don't want to ask you want them to prove it.
Your experience is one of the reason why I don't like to post a buying lead. Every single time I post a buying lead, I receive tons of reply. 95% of those replies are telling me what they have but not what I was looking for. And even I make that buying lead as urgent (I expect no more reply after a week) but still I receive replies (of rubbish) after 1 month.
So, yeah if you are looking for something here. You probably need to browse every single suppliers to see if they have what you need. Then contact those right suppliers and ask for more information.
