I am new to alibaba. I just got a very cheap offer from a company  called "Chengban Furniture Store, Huli Section, Xiamen"  (http://cnshoes.en.alibaba.com/). He asked me to send the money with bank transfer or Western Union.

He is a Alibaba.com Gold Supplier. Can I trust a or especially this Gold Supplier and send 1500$ ? What do you think?

You are talking about a seller whose website name indicates that perhaps they sell shoes, yet their company name suggests that they sell furniture, yet their website contains neither furniture nor shoes but instead contains brand name electrical products.

Add to this the fact that the supplier is in an area that has no production of electrical products anyway.

And also the fact that there is no legitimate supply of brand name products from China which raises the question as to how they could be selling something that they cannot even obtain themselves.

You are suspicious of what seems to be a price that is too good to be true yet you seem willing to override that suspicion in the hope that you can get a great deal and make some quick money.

Finally the supplier you are considering lists contact information that I am sure will not even check out if you try it.

Gold Supplier status at alibaba means that they are a full paid member and every supplier that lists in China MUST be a full paid member, so therefore every Chinese supplier must now become a Gold Supplier. So no it does not mean that you can trust them.

Save your money and only buy consumer electronics and brand name products from licenced distributors back home!

   It is impossible to buy New original Brandname items from China Mainland with

cheap unreasonable price, BEWARE!!!

   So none are real seller if they offer you lower unreasonable price for such

brandname items.

   Think it over you will know.

Do some inspections and research about this company before you transfer money.

After you get the goods, if they offer good server and good products, then you can trust them.

most of the gold suppliers are real bussiness company. 

oh, that's trading company, and they are the first year with glod supplier..... do more inspections/

Gold Supplier is worth to trust, to become Gold Supplier, we need to pass all the certification of Alibaba.com.If you still worry about this, you can search the company in Google.

Cathleen and Lindy, I understand that both of your companies pay for Gold Supplier status at alibaba in the hope that it can raise your profile on this site and therefore bring in more customers. I wish for your sake that it would do this but please consider the following:

a. All Chinese suppliers must now pay for Gold Supplier status. That includes the good and the bad suppliers. So from a buyers point of view the Gold Supplier status that alibaba gives you means nothing to us. It just means that you are paid members. I am sure that you both work at very reputable companies as in my opinion 90% and up of suppliers in China are legitimate suppliers, but you need to put pressure on alibaba to do more about that other 10% which are scammers and which are using the Gold Supplier status they automatically get here at alibaba to rip off customers.

b. You mention that to get Gold Supplier status that your company must be verified by alibaba. If that were true then there would be no scammers here on alibaba. There would be no companies listed with false contact details. There would be no companies listed as manufacturers when in fact they are individual people with no factory and no office. There would be no listings here with false video introductions showing video that is supposed to be of their factory but is not.

It would be great if Gold Supplier status here at alibaba did in fact mean a better than normal supplier, but the fact is that it does not mean this.

The soooner that alibaba  does create a special status for special suppliers the better as that will enable the many good suppliers in China to seperate themselves in the eyes of buyers from the scammers.

The longer that alibaba fails to make a change and continues giving Gold Supplier status to obvious scammers the more damage that is being done to the reputation of this website and suppliers in China in general.

So if you want your membership money to mean something to buyers then I recommend that you let alibaba know the concerns here.

if you have any doubt , you can ask them to work on CAD or * or LC on sight etc. then at least you are secure that they will ship the products and then after shipping and getting the shipment document , you will pay.

but business is always game of trust.

First of all, no one will pay money to be gold supplier if he is frauder;

You should make a good inspection first and find out does this company is good company.

At the end why don`t you make negotiation for paying the money when transportation bill is sent to you by fax machine?
