Mark & Spencer imports wood-furniture, Is not Eco-friendly ?

How you actually link the CSR with eco friendly together?

Eh.. CSR to me is corporate social responsibility. whereby corporate actually give part of their profit back to the community and this is what Bodyshop is doing.

However if a corporate will to give portion of the money back to fund environmentally friendly project, that should be a good CSR activity.

Anyway, In Europe, I believe the carbon trading is more than a couple trillion dollar business.  think about how you can actually help in reducing the carbon footprint, and be involved in recycling of your teak will be a good business.

I believe setting up another business collect back your furniture for recycling should entitle you to carbon credit...

that is money..

please read it in my other topic in this UK forum  after Kyoto meeting ....etc

regarding the CSR - Eco firend:  the indirect impact are there, example

     - the wood-product's buyer, will  funding  the recycling of wood waste coy.

     - the wood-product's buyer will funding a re-planting/sponsorship  (green) activity.

     - the wood-product's buyer will give a part of its profit back to the area/society surround the

wood/trees it may came from ?

    hope you get the implementation

Have you ever come to indonesia???buying wild cutting wood are illegal in Indonesia,And we will get much trouble from the police.Indonesia goverment are very concern about ecology now.And we from Furniture industry asocation never buy wild cut wood.

Most of indonesia illegal Lodging wood are sell to Singapore,Brazil, and Japan and europe (Lodge Wood not Furniture Stuff)

Husen and Tika Jatiman,

This is a very serious charge and you must have evidence and proof that the illegal lodging wood is being sold to Singapore, Brazil and Japan.

Yes, I have been to Indonesia, and as many times as you would be to come here to Singapore. However I did not see any logs being shipped to Singapore nowadays. I have a friend who is doing the wood drying business, he built kilns and dry the wood for days, and weeks until the moisture is all dried up, but I never see any saw mill here that cuts the logs into planks or wood chips. There as some companies that cut the wood into chips and sell them to furniture companies, most of them are made of these chip-boards that are compressed by machines and has consistent size and shapes.

The first Indonesian friend will get a call from Marks and Spencer to request that he takes down the name in his mentioned posting, if not they will ask their lawyers to take legal action. How do I know? I had mentioned some names before, which was true, and this company must have mined the Alibaba Forum for my name and contact number. The call centre took the data either by purchase or by simply doing business intelligence and started calling these individuals to ask them to put their money into investments.

I got a phone call from them and received a threat that they will take legal action if I do not remove their name from the post, which I did.

Just a word of advice, never name a company as breaking the law, or a country for doing illegal things, if you have enough evidence, then make a report to your country police, or government authority, then to make these insinuating remarks at the forum. Anyone reading it will question: what is your intention and motive for doing it? Are you trying to break the relationship between two countries?
