Hi,

I am a potential buyer of iron weights from Singapore. I have a supplier who is selling these weights but he mentioned that the minimum order is 3000kg. I am afraid I cannot make such a huge order and hold such a large stock as there is no guarantee for the demand here.

How can I convince my supplier to sell me only say 500kg for a first-time order?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Just more information. If I have the opportunity of approaching a wholesaler to purchase the iron weights, I would. But the fact is that there are NO other sellers/distributors of these iron weights in my country, as such I only can approach the manufacturer directly.

Why don't you see if you can meet half way? A quick order is often something that most factories will consider provided that the order is a reasonable one. Negotiate!

The gap between 3000kg and 500kg is too deep! So you can large your order or buy 500kg with a little high price. I think do business sometimes neednot to haggle over every ounce,if you try buying 500kg with a little high price, and you are satisfed with it, you can do protracted business with he.

Well that is a good news then. You do not have a lot of competition.

You can talk to the supplier that this is a test order and a bigger order can follow, provided you test the quality and it turns out to be ok.

Just be confident and talk on a buyer's confidence. They need you, as much as you need them

Maybe the above idea is worthy. We usually have some clients only order a small qutity as sample and if they satisfy with our product , large order comes . So you can do like Adeel told you . Or find other suppliers , there must be suppliers that can provide small order .

    Dear Spikout,

If this is your first order with that supplier, you can tell him that this is your trial order. When you confirm their price and quality , you will place larger order with them. I believe that they will be glad to accept your 500kgs order.

    Good luck![em1]

If you choose the sample order, the price will a little high. so my opinion is try to find more clients who can accept small order.  The second you should do is takeing a investigation of your internal market.
