Great post! I work for a Full service Logistics Provider in Canada and more often than not we can find ways to cut out up to 30% of supply chain costs for our customers.  Nowadays that can make a huge difference!
Anyone shipping to or from Canada, get in touch with me! We will see what we can do for you!

Your suggestion is really rewarding

Dear sir, i am new to the Import export world. I am newB (your word).

sir, i want to import Welding Electrodes Stainless steel grade. sorry forgot to tell you that i am from india and i want to import this product from China. i am a small trader, so it is difficult for me to order full container. so for the first few order i am going to order 2 or 3 tonnes only. now shipping is okey, i can arrange it.

but real problem is with the custom duties, its pretty much. so i asked couple of CA and CHA regarding same they told its either 26% or 32% they are never sure. On goverment site also i have checked, its not clear either. just few days back..one supplier in india let me know that you could have 18% less duty if you have voluantary excise liecence. but i am not sure..

so, pls help with this problems....whats exact duty........and is there any possibility or minimising duty or either duty drawback.

I think you need to get in touch with an experienced customs broker in your city. He or she will be better able to guide you on India-specific duties for the items you have in mind.

Maybe shop around a bit and settle for the one who you feel is the best to start out with. It's not as hard as it sounds.

The cheapest may not necessarily be the best - think of the services and follow up

this party can provide.

Your local telephone directory should be full of customs houses and brokers - try contacting them. Good luck.

THE MOST BETTER WAY IT IS JUST SIGN CONTRACT SALE-PURCHSE WHERE YOU SHOULD ICLUD SHIPMENT TERM'S AND CHOOSE OPTIONAL:

 FOB

CIF

OR OTHER

-- SO YOU WILL BE ABLE TO GET MOST EFFICIENT PRICE BEACOUSE EVERY BODY WORKING WITH AN LOGISTIC AGENT WILL HAVE BETTER PRICES FROM THIS LOGISTIC COMPANY.

SO I THINK IT BETTER TO WORK WITH ONE LOGISTIC COMPANY

AND EVERY TIME WHEN YOU WILL BUY SOMETHING - SIGN CONTRACT AND CHOOSE SHIPMENT BASIC AT INCOTERMS2000

It's good advice, but too simplistic for someone living in a small town or area.

That's why the Internet is such a great tool. Not all communities have freight forwarders in their towns. For instance my phone book doesn't have freight forwarders listed. That's why I think it's great to bounce ideas off each other and let people know what freight forwarder has worked for you and why.

Thanks for your comments. The article was actually aimed at "newbies" and meant to

serve only as a rough guide to get them started.

Strictly speaking, a freight forwarder does not necessarily have to be located within your own city. It helps if they are but if not, then the closest port or town/city is a good way to move forward. More critical is the ability of the forwarder to communicate with you clearly and

precisely on your requirements. Sitting in the US you cannot realistically expect to communicate cleanly with some forwarder in a remote part of China.

It's all too easy for people here to leave their views/comments on freight forwarders of choice - but these

would be considered advertising on behalf of such forwarders/shipping lines and, as such, be deleted by

Alibaba.com's moderators.

Again, the article was meant to serve only as a rough guide. Thank you for your input.

Well, your point of the topic does help me out ... It got me thinking about some contacts I know here in my hometown.
