As usual, if you want to work with anyone supplier in China, I suggest you search on Alibaba, made-in-china, Global source....and some other world famous B2B website. Be attention, communicate with Gold supplier more.
Mayb you can trust Gold Suppliers, becasue they are all verified by the THIRDLY PART GROUP, all of those company information and profile is real.
If they don't send you goods, you can try to lodge a complaint, hope it can help.
Regarding to the payment method, it seems in China, the usual way is T/T or L/C. It likes one normal practice.

In China , Usually small amount are accepted by T/T or Western Union terms . Business is on behalf of mutual trust . In another word , business is like a game full of risk . You can arrange 50% payment first . Then suppliers can arranged of production .once their prouction finished . they should show you with photoes , so you can without that much worries . Then another 50% before shipment .
As to you , you are worry you are trading with a cheated company . As to the suppliers . they didnot know whether they are trading with a lier . so 50% or 30%, or even 10% payment can be helped of each other .
