EMC = Evergreen Marine Corporation (a world-renowned shipping line)
$50/rt = US$ 50 per revenue ton.
LCL = less than container load (loose cargo)
I would recommend you to read up on some of these terms by doing a search on
common shipping terms on sites like google.com or wikipedia.com. It will help you understand things much faster. Good luck.

Ningbo to LA/LB is one of the most common routes out there (for China/US anyway). Just about every shipping company does that one.
YES you should use a broker, I am assuming you mean a CUSTOMS broker here. There is no way you are going to get the paperwork correct on your own. Customs Broker fee is between $80-110 per shipment (ie per B/L)....
Get quotes from the suppliers for FOB/CNF/CIF pricing to LA/LB... Then call a few Brokers in the LA area (go to customs.gov and find the port and then the link to the brokers page) and get them to quote you shipping as well.
Remember there is more than just Customs and broker fees for the shipment..... There are all sorts of warehouse/ port/handling fees as well...... Make sure you get these confirmed by th broker you choose BEFORE you place an order with a supplier
Do NOT believe a China supplier if they say there are no other fees. that is 100% incorrect. The Supplier's job finishes at the wharf.... BEFORE all the extras are added on.

why not check the rate with Sunway Logistics Company? You can get the best rate from this company.
As I understand, you means brokers are forwarders. Forwarders will only charge you the shipping fee, there is no freight forwarding fee. Forwarder companies like the shop of the shipping company, they collect the shipment in the shipping market, and get the better shipping price from the shipping company according to the quantity they can give to one shipping company.
If you can give the goods of ten 40HQ containers to one shipping company for one week vessel, you will get the best price from the shipping line, and you may act as the small forwarder company. Otherwise, it will like that one consumer only buy one TV from the TV factory, I am sure the TV factory will quote this consumer very high price.
