Secure Payments for products
Post 1 of 13

I'm interested in importing a product from India/malasia to Canada. How can I ensure that I am not going to be ripped off??

If I use Wester Union there is NO guarentee that after I pay - that I will receive the product. Are other payment methods more secure?

1. How can I ensure that I am not going to be ripped   off??                                              2.Are other payment methods then WU which is more secure?
Your asking is too general and not specified ! i.e :

      1. What  Merchandise products ? haw many ? how much money that you are talking about?

      2. Which companies that you are going to deal with ?

But here are the answer :

1. Not to be ripped Off ?  by  Verify the company that you want to deal/contact to !

    > company details, contact, legitimate( trade license, VAT #, registration etc)

few references of the existing customers of your contact/new suppliers have done?

clear terms & condition of  Sales/buying contract in  full details & specs.

    > Confirmed and approved  of product specification and certification(quality).and

Guaranty or services after sales upon quality assurances.

 2. Other payments that more secure than WU

    > Safe Payments,  implementation.  e.g.:

       - Escrow account,  Pay pal

       - Stand by L/C  as the counter of  your L/C

       - Document against payment (D/P) with (must) Pre-shipment inspection base on approval

         samples and the sales-contract !

       - Documents against Accptance (D/A),  due- to  Final-checking after arrival of goods.

use a sourcing company. there are many of them  in alibaba trustp *. you pay them , they source for the product, buy it and send to you. but be prepared to pay more for what i know is a secure transaction.

There are various methods that you could use that would safeguard not only you but also the seller. One is through an arrangement called documents against accepatance or through the use of an irrevocable letter of credit.
