Here's the info... I have several packages coming from Shanghai to the US.

I was told the packages were too heavy to mail together, so they were sent from 3 different locations on 3 different days.  Fine with me.

I have 3 numbers for tracking them, but the numbers only show up on one document which I can only translate to show that they were at the Shanghai airport on July 24th.  They do not show up anywhere else including EMS.  The numbers begin with CN if that helps.

I emailed the company who sent them and they said that they are coming by sea and it will take 30 days... maybe longer for them to get here.

My question is... does any of this make sense.  I thought china post would only send via air... not by sea.  And if they are coming by air, how long does it take.  They are large heavy boxes, but it has been 23 days now and nothing.  If they can ship china post by sea, how long does that take?

I'm pretty confident I'm not getting scammed... This company really went to a lot of trouble to create a product to my specs and sent me samples... and still replies to my emails.  I don't think they would have done all of that if I was being scammed.

Thanks for any info you can provide... and if anyone can tell me a better way to ship items in the future I'd love to hear it.  Everything seemed to be crazy expensive so I went this route.

Thanks,

Devon

The China EMS post takes around2-3 days to arrive USA if by courier. But the maximum weight per bill is restricted to less than 30kgs. For your goods I think they may ship to you via ocean freight LCL services. But strange the tracking records as you provided was at Shanghai Airport... As only air freight cargo will go to the warehouse in airport. But if shiping via Air freight, it may only take less than 5 days to arrive destination airport in USA.

I dont know how many kilo of goods you have for one package. If less than 68kg/pack which means UPS would be your best choice for shipping with courier. and the price and drop down to 50% off according to the offcial price list if you find a good Freight Forward agent.  Or you can choose air / ocean freight. They both ok but need you to go the the destination port to do the clearance.

Dear,

my clients have asked us to send China post before, but at last it take around nearly two month arrived.

that clients also think the same like you,all courier company is very expensive,so he choice the China post and find the cheappest way to send it. that way including send by air frist and then send by sea and at last send by truck,so complex .... and finally arrived my US clients hands and take 45 days.

i do not like to send goods by China post, it is not convenient for us,it should be pay by shipper before send and not have collect pay service.

i more likely to send by shipping agent. they can provide very competitive price which will be not much more expensive than China post and they can guarantee goods arrived within only few days. they are compare UPS,DHL,TNT company have the more cheapper price and better personal service.

i have cooperate with this shipping agent for more than two years and they have good reputation.

My supplier told us that the only advantage to China post is nothing but the price,so if you are in hurry for the goods, you should let your supplier arrange a forwarder to do the delivery.Good luck!

Unfortunately, like the previous posters have mentioned, it will likely take up to 2 months before your samples arrive.

We frequently have packages shipped to us from China, and deciding between shipping time and cost is always an important consideration.  For instance, in your situation, it may take several hundred dollars to have those samples shipped by an express company via DHL or UPS, but would you rather get those samples in a week and get your business rolling right away, or do you feel waiting for a few months to save that several hundred dollars will be worthwhile.

As for your samples, there isn't much you can do at the moment.  Your tracking numbers won't update until they hit U.S customs, and it may not even update then if they don't scan it in.  You should know in about a month or less where you packages are.  Even if they were shipped via regular air, they probably would have arrived by now, so they were probably shipped by sea.
