I am not a fan of Yiwu but to be fair the products that I buy are not well represented there anyway so perhaps that is where my bias comes in.
To me Yiwu is like a weekend market back home. A few good items mixed in with a lot of trash, most at reasonable prices.
If you are buying small quantities then to be honest you are probably best buying back home and saving yourself all of the headaches of buying in a foreign country.
If you are buying in big quantities then you can deal direct with the manufacturers or professional trading companies.
I just don't see the need for Yiwu which is like a big shoppinh center filled with suppliers many of whom are selling exactly the same things. Almost none of the suppliers are manufacturers so where is the advantage?
You won't get brand name products in China so give that away now.
For electrical products I think you are best to buy from Guangdong province. Consumer electrics are a difficult area unless you really know what you are doing and I stay right out of that market myself.

As you mentioned that you want to do ebay business ,I would like to suggest you to pay a visit to Guangzhou wholesale marekets . The markets there are amazing and there are lots of good products could be resell on ebay or ioffer. I have offered some examples as follows for your kind reference .

b.Guangzhou Onelink Gift Wholesale markets : diamond pen , solar charger, flip flap toys , scooters .etc.
c.Guangzhou watches wholesale markets : hello kitty watches , twinkling watches .etc.
d.Guangzhou furniture market: Barcelona chairs , Love Seats .etc.
e.Guangzhou Sex products wholesale markets : sex toys , rose type underwear, bill clinton condoms .etc.
