i am sorry to hear that.it said the email is not by the boss but the clerk under.maybe you can contact with the boss directly for some details.
if we want to deal something we should know why they happen.maybe there is something wrong without our consciousness.

Not many factories in China are willing to stock so much material. I barely ask factory to start anything before the deposit received. But there are many close customers always use the "long term business relationship" to skip the deposit part. If the amount is not big, I can live with it. But when the amount is big, bare in mind that deposit is a must.
Now like most other responders say you are suggested to talk to your customer again to find out the reason for cancelling. If it is because of price, you are suggested to negotiate with both parties (factory & customer). But if that is the reason for the quality, I suggest you to look for another customer. As I don't think factory can improve the quality but not further increase the price. And I hope your factory hasn't started to do anything yet. A big GOOD LUCK to you.

Just as other posters's suggestion, to be calm down ,and the first thing you need to do is to contact with customer to find out the reason for cancelling which will let you know how to more forward then.

How higher price you offer? Will it be a big gap than before? If sudden jump, most buyers even a regular one cannot accept it. I believe you do receive information from your raw materials' supplier 1 or 2 weeks before materials' price increase. And since this is your big buyer, you must update them regularly about price, etc if any changes will happen.The only way now is you can contact the director directly and check out the real reason. I am sure they will think twice if they shift to new supplier coz it needs to start all over again. If your quality is up to their standard, I am sure they will stick to you. Please call their director or person in charge for the purchase.

it looks like this buyer was alreay in contact with the compatition. Soemwhere along the line your company must have treated the buyer in such a way that they were forced to look elsewhere.
There things happen, especially wenn big quantities are involved, and they can buy according to their opinion at less price and same or better quality.
You must go down deep to the dust and try to convince him to place orders with yoyur company again. This can be done with techniques as price and quality and delivery time.
But most of the times they will not come back to their word. Hopefully for you will the compatator raise it´s price next season and they might come back to you again.

i don't know what to say,, i think there's some reason for the clients change the industrial , the price of your product must be expensive than other's
