Yes, I think you must nagotiate with your customer. It is hazard to cooperate with the supplier who's prices are low when all material cost is rise. Is the quality acceptable? You must let your client know it.

We have many partner manufacturers in China, and before placing an order, at first, we pay deposit. After receiving deposit transfer our partner start the production; only after production complete, container loading and shipment done, we pay balance. If we cancel order, the deposit money automatically holded by manufacturer. By this way both sides are aviod cancel situations or any misunderstanding.

Before we increase our price, we should first check, what others are offering for the same product, and if at all you must increase, the differenace should be negligible to the buyer, else he will deifinatly change the supplier, as any business man would do.

Try and find out, wht price he got from a new supplier and if possible re-neogciate the price or convince him to stick to you, as u already have a long standing supply record, as its always a little risk with new supliers.

        You say you have been in cooperation with the client for years which means you were doing a good job for them reagrding their requirements on price,quality and delivery.

Now the question is did your performance go down or the client found chaeper price from elsewhere.If he went for price believe me you always have the chance that he will come back it can take months and sometime years.

 

But Hey this is business don't depend on one client keeep the search on and you will see a lot of opportunities are waiting for you!!
