I am looking for somebody in or near Johannesburg, or closer to the Eastrand, who sell woodpellets. I have search through this site but with no success. I reseived one reply, but the person whosend me the email, said he know nothing about this email. I search the site again, find a person who say he sell them in his add, but again this phone number is not working. So now i try this way, and hopefully we can get help here before next winter, because the past winter i couldn't use my stove at all. I couldd not find a agent for this woodpellets.

Thanks a lot.

Petronella

Well, if it is so difficult to get them, what is the problem? Are there no suitable "wastes" in your area, like saw dust, straw, etc.?

If it's just the lack of an industry, why not go for it and do it yourself? Of course I don't know if you have the time, money, etc., but it's really no big deal. Any industrial mechanical shop can make the machine for you, and operation is pretty simple.

If the saw dust is from resinous woods, you just press it together. Otherwise you spray a tiny bit of starch slurry into the mix and then do the pressing. And if it's finely shredded straw (less calories), just increase the pressure and add a little heat (perhaps solar). Or prepare a combination of all three of them and the resin will glue it together.

If you find this option interesting, do a google search with keywords like "wood pellets", "resinous woods", etc. The abundance of info will surprise you! You still might have to do some testing, but it ain't rocket science either.
