I am from USA , I would like to know how I can work with a manufacturer who can produce my own cothing line.  I want to start off wit T shirts, hoodys, jeans etc.  What preparations should I take to get my design produce.

A sound business plan is the first important step. Really. I have worked with many new designers whom would have avoided many mistakes and oversights had they started with a good business plan.


If you can sketch your designs/logos/specifics, that is a big plus! - makes your vision easier to communicate with a pattern maker/manufacturer. If not, you need a clear idea and good communication in order to be sure you are going to get the patterns/garments you have envisioned. You are going to want samples of each product for you to approve or revise before moving to any quantity of production.


Read up on the gobs of useful information on fashion-incubator .com. It really is the best source for all you need to know.


I own a contract sewing company and it is sometimes frustrating working with new designers who have not done their homework. I help as much as I can and I provide them with quality products, but I can't make them sell. You gotta do your homework! You need a good business plan so you know all the who's what's and where's of your business (any biz needs this). You need a clear vision of your specific products and your market. You need to be particular when choosing a manufacturer/contractor. And you need a positive go-getter attitude as well! :)

i thing if your business is big you should visit the manufacturing area. otherwise you have to be very clean on knowledge about quality.

Here are our standard steps of ordering custom-design casual wear, mostly t-shirts, hoodies and jeands. They may give you an idea on how to work with a manufacturer interactively.

Go through the few steps in below and you will get your uniform soon.

1. Send us a RFQ (Request-for-Quotation) with your CMC/RMC specifics.
2. Receive our quotation in next business day (on most RMC requests).
3. Optionally you can order us to make a sample item for your design.
4. Most RMC orders will get a free sample digital photo showing the visual effect of adding your logo on garment, such as either one of the photos as shown on below.
   
5. Make adjustment and decide on options on our quotation to your satisfaction with this form.
6. Once the product details and sales terms are agreed, you can click here to pay for the order.
7. We shall deliver order in lot(s) on schedule as stipulatedon on quotation.
8. You distribute the uniform to its end users, give us your comment, and prepare your next order with us : )

I think the quality is important for you, But maybe the price will be higher. because I have a buyer from USA, and he do brand clothes( his own brand, and registered newly. I accept the small quantity as long as I can get good price.

Dear Dean,

You can contact with some professional trade companies, they're very professional and  can sourcing and arranging everything for you, you save lots of times on tracing, but you need to pay more money on comission'  another way is you can sourcing facotry directly, and cooperating with them separetly, the price will be much lower but you need to pay more energies on tracing and arranging everything.

No matther what kind of comducting method you choose, i just suggest you come to China personelly visiting and selecting all by yourself, you know, in China you can find lots of suppliers easily, but not so easy for a very qualified one!!
