Alibaba is adding a new top category, Consumer Electronics. Below are two versions of category list. Which do you like better? A or B? Your opinions are extremely important to us!
The main difference between A and B:
A: All parts and accessories are grouped together.
B: Parts and accessories are grouped respectively with the products they are used for.

I am not trying to rain on anyone's parade here but I would like to understand the logic here.
As mentioned back in March of this year I fully support the idea of a dedicated Consumer Electronics forum. This forum could bring together discussions about computers, mobile phones, MP3 etc. all in one heading.
What I don't understand is why a whole group of forums needs to be created to accomodate this.
Currently we have five forum groups here at alibaba:
- Trade Forums
- Industry Forums
- Regional Forums
- Lifestyle Forums
- Safe Trading Forums
Each of those cover five main areas of international trade and each of those is already broken up into many forums making it quite difficult for users to find the correct forum to post in. This is evidenced by the fact that the forum at the top of each forum group gets the most posts.
I don't see the value in dividing this particular group up into so many different product categories as opposed to every other product which is placed into industry categories.
To my mind the discussions about each of the products is going to be essentially the same:
- brand name products
- scammers
- legitimate suppliers
- certification
- technology
The above can be seen by looking at the two current forums - 'Computers' and 'Mobile Phones'. Essentially the same questions are being asked and answered, just about a different product!
Why do I even care? Well to be honest I don't really mind about the electronics issue and the divisions that are made as it is not my area of interest. My concern is that the forum is already somewhat difficult to use and that adding more forum groups does not help this but may serve to make it worse.
So once again I am in agreeance that the electronics stuff should all be brought together in the one place. I just think it is better done within the current forum framework by creating a Consumer Electronics forum within the Industry Forums group for discussion about all of the products mentioned by Admin.
