I'm about to make first purchases through alibaba. I'm located in US. What have you found to be safest way as a buyer to pay  new supplier? I would appreciate hearing different opinions. Example: Supplier wants 30% plus balance on T/T. I'm not sure what T/T is and how to pay the 30% safely.

Since it is the first time for you to purchase  thru alibaba, I suggest you hire us to check the suppliers before your payment. If the supplier is honest and legitimate, any payment method is safe for you. How can you  guarantee the supplier is honest? No worries, becoz I can check it for you.

Pls contact me freely so that I can introduce our company for you in details.

T/T is telegrapic transfer from bank to bank, make sure that the account you sent the money to belong and hold the name of the supplier, do not send money to a privat person,

30% deposit and 70% when the goods are ready is normal for China, for larg order use L/C (letter of Credit, look in the Payment and finance forum for this term)

make a contract with all details if things goes wrong,

But first optain samples, not every thing looks like the photo and are up to the descripsion of the goods (you can not always be sure that the sample was made by the supplier) use the sample as master sample and ask some one in China to inspect the goods accorting to the marster sample before you send the rest 70% so that you don't end up with a whole shipment of disapointing goods,

T/T is telegraphic transfer from bank to bank. We are the factory in China.Usually we use the 30% deposit in advance,70% T/T balance before sending goods, which is very popular payment in China.

I think firstly you should scan the website of your supplier and make sure all information you know from your supplier are the same as the information of website, including the name of supplier, the products, the contact information and so on. Secondly, you could confirm the sample is belonging to the products your supplier are dealing in,according to the website. Thirdly, never send the money to a private bank, except the freight cost and samples cost.Thridly, you could ask a Chinese friend to confirm whether there is company existing.

In fact,a website is very importand for suppliers in China. The website of some small companies or not existed companies are very different from others. You may compare. If your supplier do not own website, pls be careful.

Hope you meet a good supplier and will have a  nice business.

You're suggested to check out their Business License and Export License before payment.

A pre-shipment QC inspection is very necessary if your order is large enough in the future!

30% advance , 70%T/T,  the proceeds  account  you pay must beyond to company account ,not private .also you would better need the sample and sign contract .
