I'm going to china in a few weeks and would like any tips. My husband and i want to import small amount of items to start off with and after buying a couple of camera products from Chinese companies, when they arrived they were fake -- so we have decided it is better to fly over, check out as many manufacturers as i can within one week. I (F) am going and wondered if anyone had any tips for a woman travelling their for business (first time).

Cheers Amanda

I am sorry for your bad experience in working with china factory. But most of them are good and honest, I think.

What item are you going to buy from China? What is buying vol per month? Don't waste time visiting some so-called manufacturers. Before leave for China, make sure you have found out the ones worthy to visit. Perhaps I can help you.

Hi Amanda

Hope your amount of qty is big enough for the seller's MOQ to export to you. otherwise they would not be happy to do business with you.

For the company list you would like to visit, pls make a serious decision on which you really like to do business with them, not those seems ok, maybe a paper work you can list more companies, but when you actually visit them, you would not have much time to visit all of them, I usually have appointment from some clients, but finally they do not come, I am sure they have no time to visit. And also traffic in China is terrible which may effect your schedule. specially in Shenzhen, I am here in Shenzhen, there is usually traffic jam.

And do you have Chinese to  visit the suppliers with you, I suggest you to have a man to go with you would be better.

Any question, you can contact me.I would be happy to help you.

Hi Amanda:

If you try to buy new original Branded Camera from China with cheap price(As Nikon\Sony\Olmpus\etc)  My suggest is that

1:Don`t waste your time be here.

2:Don`t waste your money be here

3: Try to touch authorized big dealer in your country then get them for reseller.

All brand new original Camera(Also other

Mobile\Laptop\computer\Watch\Shoe\Bag\etc)

sold expensive in China than in your country.

If you didn`t trust me, you can try to be here then you will know.

Best regards

Paul

Amanda the city of Xiamen does not really fit with the products that it seems you are looking at buying. The others are well known for electrical type products.

What specific products are you looking at from that Xiamen supplier?

Hi Amanda,

I am in
Xiamen.

For the first time travel in
, you'd better book your visit with your potential supplier in advance, and better have your own interpreter with you when traveling. If you need an interpreter or sourcing associate, I can help.

I know there is a good factory in
Xiamen specialized in non-brand named or OEM  camera manufacturing.

Hi Amanda.

Just go there, be yourself, enjoy the culture and the food and the hospitality of the Chinese people, and have a great time.

Visit any of the factories you want to, ask to see the production part of the factory, which will fascinate you, so you get a better understanding of the product you will buy. Ask as many questions as you like during your tour. You'll come back as an expert in the product, becauyse you will have seen how they are made, and you will have seen the people taht make them.
