Since you don't know much about trading with Japan. It is best that you use an agent first. It will save you lots work and time. If you want to do it yourself, first you have to do lots research to see if your products can be imported into Japan or out of Japan and what are the requirements.
Where did you go on the cycling tour? One of our company have cycling tours to Japan.

I went with a UK co called saddle skedaddle. I was in Holland with them this year, Japan last year, Spain the year before. It was cool.
Do you know any agents in Japan?
