I think you are right. The maximum information we get about a buyer/supplier, is better. We should never hesitate to phone or visit website. It cost time but it gives us guarantee of safe business.

I don't think you wanna trade with Microsoft or George Bush. And I really don't think people might want to play with the small little exporting/importing company in Mauritius writing pages their name and the word "scam".
But I agree that it is funny so I'll grade your post 80/100. The 20 marks I've taken off is for making fun of me :-).
See you next man and thank for the post.

Replying to [bsanssouci]: Hello, I am trying to buy products from China. does this mean that if I am asking for samples and only want to pay by credit card or PAYPAL I am viewed as a scammer? How can we get products and services without risk on both sides? I mean reading all these issues seems like the best place to get scammed is on an association like this one. I have posted 2 buy offers and have received 100 replies most of them trying to sell me something they make not even close to what I am looking for and the text I wrote about what I am looking for is returned in the reply mail. the ones who make a product with similar technology write and ask for more info and then you never hear from them again.
Actually I have wasted so much time with the entire concept of buying directly from manufactures in China and elsewhere that it is becoming almost "when will I get scammed" as opposed to "if I ever get scammed"
Also found people who ask to write to you outside alibaba tend to be less trustworthy. I am actually in a foreign country with a decent budget looking for products to buy for this project. I do not need to make money on the products, I am getting paid to specify those items and my customer imports them directly if at all. I have had no deal yet, but a promise of samples sent 2 days ago is giving me hope that I will at least resolve one of my issues with this large project. I am anxiously awaiting my samples and hope I found a good vendor.

You should not despair in finding honest buyer/sellers on b2b website. Are you honest? I am honest. So it make at least two honest people. For payment, better be done by Letter of credit of face-to-face. Ask for buyer to come to your country or go to their country.
Buying on internet is risky but often it is worth the cost of traveling some miles to get the perfect catch. Receiving sample is a good news but do not use it as a guarantee that the seller is honest. One advice is to always be prepare to uncover a scam. Permanently research on your partners, it is the safest way to business online.

Some good points in your post. Here are a couple more :
* Buyers who claim that fees are too high for a T.T. and want to send a cheque or Bank Draft. I had a fake B.D. and a stolen cheque. I didn't lose money except for the bank fees. Of couse the customers were begging for 50% of the goods straight away before the paper was cleared. NEVER send anything until the money is in the bank.
* Another favourite is a transaction that looks fine and goes along nicely and suddenly there is a fee to buy the tender documents. I had "an agent" who was supposed "in the know" but when I told her that she should pay the fee as part of her work for me I never heard another word. No surprise there.

Replying to [bsanssouci]: Addendum to this topic, use your contacts in the country the scammers claim to be. Today i helped out IAH enterprise in pakistan, they almost got scammed by a person from Holland, i just checked out by phone what the person wanted, he told me i dialed the wrong number so as of that moment IAH knew they were dealing with a scammer.Glad to help out.
Further i know as a fact that ABN bank will never contact you on behalve of your customer, so if youu get called by someone claiming to be from abn bank on behalve of companyXXXX, you'll get scammed.
