How do I get started? And know that it is for real?
I am new to this and like many I am a bit weary to send money to anyone and get scammed. I am looking to buy sports jerseys, shoes, and clothing and sell them locally and through ebay. I am wondering how to go about picking the right supplier and know that they wont scam me. Its sad to say but it seems like that is what the world has come to. Could someone point me in the right direction as to how I should go about finding a supplier and how to go about with the transaction. Any info that people have would be great.

Re: How do I get started? And know that it is for real?

If you are talking about foreign brand name products then give up now as there is no legitimate supply for you in Asia. The only products that you will be able to buy will be illegal counterfeit product as you are not a licenced distributor of the brand name company.

There is plenty of non-branded product available but minimum order quantities will likely be reasonably high i.e. 100's or even 1000's of pieces per item per color. You may find a supplier that is willing to negotiate on this but be careful as there may be a reason that they are willing to negotiate that.

So if you are looking for brand name product and/or very small quantities then you are better off to find a good wholesaler back home.

I agree with Egernia. If you're looking to start out, take small steps first - you can

always jump later ! A good wholesaler back home would be your best bet for now.

No freight, no payment charges, etc - I'm sure in exchange for your own peace of mind you wouldn't begrudge him or her a little profit while selling to you !

Ask the company that your interested in to send you Sample for study. Just like that. If you have DHL- FED-Ex account etc. for shipment to you that is good you can give to them.

Inspect the quality of the merchandise. If you like get a Pay Pal account or escrow account. set up and make the trade then.

Escrow account: will get the required proof of shipment from COSCO to items QTY etc. and then you advise escrow to release funds at that point. If not your funds will promptly be returned to you ok.

Hope that helps.

Contact me anytime.

Re: Re: How do I get started? And know that it is for real?

Don't be so anxious at this ! Just as you say you are new at the field, more endeavor is supposed to be made, which can be reflected in the fact that a scammer supplier always hopes to trap a large supplier in a short time, so you'd better not indicate directly that you are a large buyer no matter whether you are or not and try to extend the negotiation term as long as possible and then be assured that the suppliers filtered out this way are usually reliable and loyal ones.

To analyze your case in another angle, suspect  is of course essential and important in a preliminary stage  yet to be timid is not feasible. Success comes from numerous failure and experience from practise. Just have a try with more care and endeavor.

As last I wish you success on the field.[em1]

Usually, if you find the golden suppliers on Alibaba, they are reliable. And you can ask for the suppliers' telphone number, fax number, website to confirm. If you want to buy something, first, asking for samples is a very common thing, you can test the quality and know the suppliers further.

Hope you can find a good supplier soon![em1]

Re: How do I get started? And know that it is for real?
ask any supplier for samples and ask if you can pay with Escrow (www.escrow.com) or CC (credit card) With these payments you should be protected.
