I think its not the matter of boy or girl. In business companies there are mostly males sitting in top positions so its the Strategy to use opposite sex in sales staff which are females to get best respect.
I also believe that girls can play important part in creating a calm and satisfied position in sales with respect. This is why girls are most in numbers in sales.
Males are also good salesmen when it comes to selling things to females so its the opposite sex polciy nothing especial.
Important things is the ability to give respect to others, skills, and sales management techniques which can make u perfect.

Sex aside...here is how I would rank a "good" sales person
1) Knowledge of English (if you can't communciate, how can you sell?)
2) Industry knowledge (if you don't know your industry, how can you stay ahead of trends?)
3) Product knowledge...some of my products have been quite technical, and have required sophisticated manufacturing processes. I was always disappointed when I knew more about my suppliers manufacturing processes than they did.
4) Hygiene - Make sure you don't STINK! My gosh I've been in some meetings where my contact (sorry mostly boys) have had terrible breath and must not have taken a shower in days. So boys, pay attention...brush your teeth, change your clothes and take a shower. How do you have a close cooperation when you can't stand to be around that person.
5) Then we do get to gender and while I have no particular preference, if I had all of the above in a boy or a girl, I'd prefer to do business with a girl first and a guy second.

Of course this depends on personal abilities, not depends on the gender. But it's a good topic to debate.
I agree with you, guys/boys are more silence and not very social. But girls are simply better in estimating what people think and feel and how to communicate with them.
So in general I think mostly girls are better in selling than boys
