Hi,

I need a little help, I am doing business with Shaoxing Xinhong Textile Co.LTD China and need to perchase a sample of a cloth pocket diaper.

I will be paying for the postage which I am told will be $20 which seem a lot for 1 nappy.

I do not want to pay for it via TT as it will cost me $35 just for the transfer and the seller cant seem to rejester for paypal, She said her credit card is not working.

She has sugested I send TNT to pick it up but it is only 1 diaper and it is not worth it.

Does anyone know of an cheap easy way to pay for a sample?

Thanks

Nicole

My question to you is how you are going to evaluate a product such as that by only getting one piece, let alone decide to who and how you will market it in the AU?  It makes far more sense to buy at the minimum one case to allow mothers who have babies a chance to evaluate the product before you decide to buy.

All of the above is also moot unless your supplier has met the standards for the product as outlined at http://www.accc.gov.au before its imported or you have commited to product testing by a recognized lab of the Australian goverment.

  1. The cheapest shipping to Australia from China is going to be the same no matter if its 3 grams or 500 grams.  Look at the rates for Australia Post as well for parcels the price is the same for items 1g - 250g.
  2. PayPal is in limited use only in China and has no protection for payments outside of Australia which are not related to E-bay.
  3. Since your cost to transfer money is so high through your bank, buying more of the product to evaluate makes more sense.
  4. Your bank charges are representative of a non-commercial account.  Corporate/Business accounts are based on tier usage or funds on deposit.  I know of two banks in Australia that offer far lowwer T/T charges for transfer of funds up to $10,000.00AUD.

Thank you for your help, I will have to be more careful and make sure they meet AUS safety standards. As for the one sample that is all they would send me and testing the product is no problem as I am a mother of two young children in nappies.

Hi just ask them to front the cost and send by regular post, there is no need for all the expense, china will take paypal as i have used it several times i just pay there cost usually about 10 - 15 %. Basically if they are not willing to mail you 1 nappy then is that acompany you really want to deal with, there will be many manufactures that will be willing to do this as they want your business, look a bit more and you will find good luck...

Hi,Nick,

As a supplier i also have a headache of the one pieces sample thing.

In fact, to our side, charge for samples just want to know the customer is sincere or not.

We have came across the cases that once the free samples send out, there is always no news from our customer. It's quiet frustrated and unaffordable. Maybe diapper is not expensive, but for jackets ,jeans,we only charge USD20.00/pc for sampling, that really symbolically.

And when customers only ask for one pieces sample ,there cames the problem like yours, sample fee even less than transfer ,it's wastage. We also would like save money for our customer of course. So,i always suggest customer pre-pay the courier, and will send out samples then by our side,it's always much cheaper .

For money transfer, besides TT,there is only paybal ,i think.

I hope more people share experience and suggestion concerning on the samples charge, for it's very important in our whole business!

Thank you!

Anna

Open a FedEx Account in your country and ask ur supplier to use your account to send the samples down to you using FedEX!

The courier charges for a consignment below 500 grams is always same no matter if its even 1 gram!

So what you can do is request for more samples then just 1 nappy! So that the $20 odd u gonna invist is kind of worth it ;).

Hello there,

I have a Florida, USA registered biz which you can verify with Florida Sales Tax number. I also have US registered websites with godaddy.com I have agents in China who have my money. You can pay me here and they will send them the money there from account. I will not charge you anything extra for it but you will have to pay the Western Union money transfer fee from within China. I accept Paypal or US credit cards or any other form of payment.

In future if you want to deal through us, we will provide the same service. For samples we don't charge you extra as I had said, but for bigger orders, we will charge a very small fraction. BTW, if you want, you don't have to pay $20 for shipping. I can get it down for you, not only for this transaction but for bigger orders too.

Regards

KC
