small orders an oppertunity for manufacturers
Post 1 of 6

I came across few companies who are not comfortable with taking small orders from the buyers and also sometimes their Minimum order qty is absolutly huge and not possible for many buyers to purchase. They either refer to their distributors or just ignore the order.....(very disappointing)

I can see small orders as a problem for manufactuerers, due to setup times and schedulling and etc... but the way we see things here are "problems and opportunities" to make or to achieve something better.

If minimum order qty is x1000 but buyer only wants x100, should supplier turn away the customer ? I say No.. becuase how many buyers will purchase x1000 and how many can purchase x100 each time ?? and wouldn't the supplier prefer an order of 1100 instead of 1000...?

The way things are moving now days (from technological point of view, e.g. internet, manufacturing databases, robotic technology and profit/sales margins) We are not far the time when everything will be purchased directly from the manufacturing facilities. In UK we even purchase our fresh food and fresh veg online already...

I think the manufacturing companies should start looking into a process where they dont turn away any orders just to be ahead of time and not turn away any business...

Please share your thoughts...

Most of manufacturers don't accept small order for the cost and other reasons. But the important thing is that you will save freight fee if your order is large.... I want to say that I can help you buy with a small order and save you freight fee. We are a service company in China and help you collect the small order and arrange the delivery and shipment. Pls contact me to get more further information on our service and process...

Why every field wood and meadow self appointed company expects to buy in China from big factories in small amounts ???

Try it at your country and you make the same experience, it is not possible !

All the so named factories who offer small amounts are nothing else than mini trading shops who try to buy from distributors of the big factories, if they are real !

All that what you can buy from this traders you can buy in your country cheaper, from chinese wholesalers and that without the problem of "not" or "scrap delivery" and custom clearing.

Hi Wilhelm,

I didn't specifically mentioned any country.. and all I wanted to see was if manufacturing industry agree with my statement or not....

hi, i think you are right ,manufacturers really do not want to accept small quantity orders....we cooperate all kinds of manufacturers and understand it very much.

But i think there are some excuses from manufacturers .

1.small orders have the same works for every step of process in productions.

2.samll oerders alway cost more in materials, labour cost (that because they need to pay employees even there is only few work to do for the same)

3.the products for few orders  with  low value..low value with small quantity, so they will be not profit in the business.

I think the best way for small orders is to ask some factories who pressional in sample production(as 100 pieces for example)..maybe they will cost a little higher but the quality will be good also and they would like to do. We have enough experience in these kind of works....
