For T/T at sight , you can receive the money once you submit the documents according to UCP600.
And for T/T after sight , you will receive the money after certain days (30d/60d/90d..) but it would give your customers more clients and gain credibility.
So , which one you prefer ? T/T at sight or T/T after sight?
Based on this entire survey of those responding upt to the date of this post:
- 30% of businesses are interested in long term relationships with customers.
- 70% of the business are not nor do they want to grow their businesses
- Distributors/manufacturers who offer credit to their customers allow their customers to grow, resulting in more and larger orders which in turn allows them to also grow.
- Distributors/manufacturers that offer only up front immediate payments for goods will have a far harder time in getting and maintaining a customer base due to their lack of flexibility resulting in stagnant or reverse growth potential.

Well summarised.
Now, the million dollar question: For new or recent contacts, assuming that "they want to grow" and so offer terms 'after sight', how do the buyer and the seller make sure that neither gets scammed? Remember that risks for the seller are much more when documents are not 'at sight' (i.e. on D/P basis) but 'after sight' (on D/A basis, like 30/60/90 etc.). This issue has been debated and discussed so many times here; but I believe that there cannot be a clear answer to it. What says you?

For new clients, T/T sight is preferrable as it's safer for sellers. Generally, clients can understand and accept T/T sight as payment terms at the very beginning of corporation. Along with the growth of the mutual business, we can consider T/T 30/60 days or even 90 days according to the previous credit record of the clients.
