Post 1 of 4

AQSIQ checked a total of 112 batteries made by 88 companies from Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Fujian and Guangdong. 89.9% of the products were found to be qualified and eight types of mobile phone batteries unqualified.

The unqualified batteries were reportedly made by Shenzhen Jierui Industry Co., Ltd.; Shenzhen Hengjiatong Electronics Co., Ltd.; Shenzhen Shengkesi Electronics Co., Ltd.; Shenzhen Chaolipu Technology Co., Ltd.; Shenzhen Xianfeng Electronics Co., Ltd.; Shenzhen Langtaige Electronics Co., Ltd.; Shenzhen Jiayuantong Technology Co., Ltd.; and Shenzhen Jingyou Communications Technology Co., Ltd. Among them, five types of batteries were said to be unqualified because of heat shock problems, which may result in an explosion or fire.

AQSIQ says it will punish the above companies and ask them to rectify their business within a given deadline.

One major problem with batteries out of China are the counterfeits.  It is not hard to copy the outward appearance of a name brand battery.  People then buy based on the reputation of the name brand manufacturer.  Some phones have exploded because of this scam.
