Hi there.   Newbie  wants to ask.

1 step.  I found a product what i wanted to buy.

2 step.  I sent a letter to company that i want to buy from.

3 step.  I  got their pricelist  by email.

4 step.  I agreed ( by email again)  and asked the salesman of that company to send me product A`,  and product B`.  I gave him my address.

5 step. Without any formal contract  they asked me to transfer money to their account by Western union.

6. step  is to go to the  WU and transfer the money which i didnt do yet.

No phone calls, no formal forms  to fill.  Just emails.

Now my question is : is it common in international trading????

What will happen after i transfer my money.??  I have no sign, nor a contract.

What do i do.  any help would be great.

Dear,

In my opinion , maybe it is normal. It decides how you decide and how many quantity you decide to buy.

I think if you decide to buy a something on the net, first  you should to chooose some company ,not only their products but also their reliability. For instance,in alibaba, their is a trustpass column, you can make a reference.Aslo if you make a call to them thay is better.

Second ,is depends the quantity you decide to buy .if very large,it is better to sign a contract. Moreover,I think if a company wants do a long business in the net , they must  male him reliability. it is only my opinion.

My company is aslo make business on alibaba, and the procedure is almost lile same as you said.I rhink maybe there is a large enterprises doing business like this.

we are deaing CHINA BRAND CELL PHONS.We accept  any quantity order even the sample. To some samples we do not sigm a contract, except some large order.

Hoping you good luck!

Read the forums here in Alibaba that have to do with due diligence. You need to check them out. Finding an agent in the source country to help you would be a good idea. If you send them money with western union there is a good chance you just wasted your money.

I think it is commen that the supplier ask you to if you want them to send you the samples.

But you should spend more time to confirm the quthentic of the supplier.

1. check their web.

2. say wire your money to their US account.

3. Write to Alibaba server for confirmation of their scale and credit standing. It is quick.

It is not sample fees that matter, but guess what the possible terrible feelings if they are scammers.

Good luck. [em1]

I think thats common,

I asked supplier for samples and all the communication took place using emails, They gave me their bank account details to start with but it was too expensive so I asked them for their PayPal account which they didnt have and then we settled on WU.

The best option is to use Paypal... goog luck [em21]

My guess is that you are looking to buy either foreign brand name products and/or consumer electronics. I assume that you are looking at buying in small quantities and that this 'supplier' is offering small quantities and good prices.

I tend to think that you are dealing with a scammer so I recommend that you be very careful BEFORE you send any money, even a small amount of money for samples. A loss is a loss afterall.

A legitimate company would most likely not ask you to pay via Western Union even for samples. The most common method of payment for small orders and quantities from legitimate suppliers would be TT (bank transfer) to a company account.

If it is foreign brand name product that you are looking for then give it a miss as there is no legitimate supply in China and you will lose your money.

For all other products do your research and make sure that you know what you are buying.

No that is not normal and you already found the answer to your question your self,

SanDisk does not produce 32GB and that why the refuse to send you sample,,\

Manny have already been cheated trying to buy 32GB from China and they do not exist in China at all, what you would have received after paid them will have been hacked 256MB as most others, many have not received any thing at all, do not trust them with 32GB,

You can not buy cheap brand name electronic from they are all fake or scam,
