New comers should punch "gold member" into the "Search Forums" panel at top of this page to get a little insight into the horrific extent of the scams.
Concerning certification, you need UL, CE or A-Tick certificates for legal resale of most types of electronic products is USA, EU and Australia respectively. Of the tens of thousands of Chinese electronic products listed on Alibaba, you could count on one hand those products which are properly certified. In other words, DO NOT IMPORT ELECTRONIC PRODUCTS FROM CHINA.
Quoting from [Aussie]:In my somewhat substantial experience, 99.9% (yes, that's 999 in every 1,000) of mainland China suppliers of consumer electronics are either scammers or their product is uncertified for legal sale in developed countries.New comers should punch "gold member" into the "Search Forums" panel at top of this page to get a little insight into the horrific extent of the scams.

What you've said is just silly!!
It sounds like you've been burned/scammed. I am new here and have not yet made any trustworthy/genuine/professional contacts in China but what I AM doing is asking for lots of help and also spend most of my time reading these forums rather than ogling all the "cheap goods that a going to make me rich!".
As has been said over and over and over ad nauseum by so many helpful people - do your research FIRST and then maybe do some more research just to be safe. Like I said, I'm only new and absolutely aching to set up my online store but am prepared to wait until I've done my homework and someone can help point me in the right direction before I even drop a cent on any products.
Sure, I know that even then I may get scammed - but that's business and the liklihood is going to be a lot less if I put in some major effort before I start ordering.
Funny thing is, re what you said - many people think the same thing about Indonesians.
I pray and urge any American to please PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't buy anything from this COUNTRY.
I made 3 purchases, and 3 rip offs. All of them told me that you should never buy electronics from there because they don't have it, but they tell you this after they've stolen your money.
THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY I PROMISE AND SHAME ON ALIBABA FOR ALLOWING THIS TO HAPPEN. AMERICANS DO IT THE RIGHT WAY, THEY PUNISH PEOPLE FOR STEALING IN THIS COUNTRY, BUT APPARENTLY IN CHINA YOU CAN DO WHATEVER YOU WANT TO WESTERNERS AND GET AWAY WITH IT. SO
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, DON'T GIVE A DIME TO THAT COUNTRY. I promise you, you will be ripped off. The prices will make you drool on yourself, make you hot and horny, and each company will swear up and down that they sell the authentic product and they are sorry you were ripped off before. They will tell you the sweetest things to get you to spend your money. Most companies will send you some generic items, but others will send you nothing. I hope Alibaba closes down, they are crooks for allowing it.

Depends on what electronic product you want to import. If it is a consumer product with cheap cost, low volume, such as many chargers, LED torch, toys, alarm clock. I doubt the manufacturer even know about the safety std. If you must get the certificate, and your volume is big enough. You should consider bring the product to Lab yourself. The cost for cert. may impose only a few cents more to your product cost.

I discovered two new things that I did not know about the Alibaba legend:
The first, that the 40 thieves are immortal.
The second, now living in C*H*I*NA.
Bad people must endure and pay for their acts.
The good ones must stay away from bad ones.
PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANYTHING, ANYTHING, ANYTHING IN *C*H*I*N*A* DECENT PEOPLE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH BANDITS.
Quoting from [Aussie]:hi..
There's two top Chinese phones which are properly certified for legal sale in USA but MOQ is around 1,000 units. Outside of China, there's no opportunity to deal direct with factories ... you have no choice but to buy from your own USA distributors (unless of course you want to go direct to the likes of Samsung and talk a multi-million dollar order).
Hi Anson, contact me by TM and I'll give you the contacts.

Thanks Mate!
I just lost $1600! But truth is lesson learnt! ALBE IT A TAD EXPENSIVE!!!
I feel sorry about your experience of the Chinese products. I noticed one of you has the trust pass of alibaba, it means he believes in the service of chinese products, or why he becomes the trustpass member at alibaba, at least , the service of alibaba get ecognized by him.
I admit at present, many China -made products are not satisfactory, China now is not a developed country. Most products only have Nation standard. Chinese is not very familiar with the international standard now. But it doesnt mean China's standard is lower than other countries, it means china's standard is not geared to the international standard very well till now. In fact, many factories have even stricter standard than the Nation Standard. But some time, they dont implement the actual standard. This is not only minority, so that is also the reason why the baby milk company incident occurs.
In fact ,most electronics products at china are creditable. Chinese use more China-made products than they use the western's. We also sell products to Australia and our partner earns a lot from our products.
The immdiate expose of the baby milk inccident proves that China now is becoming a responsible country. Maybe 30 years ago, you cant hear this
Chinese products have many aspects that cant satisfy you. We chinese also feel ashamed ot this. But as Premier Wen said at U.S.A, one lose in big disaster, he will use improvement to replace. However, Chinese people are very kind and ready to improve. As chinese friends, i hope we can improve together.
