Concerning scams, newbies are advised to punch "gold member" into the "Search Forums" panel at top of this page for insight into the horrific extent of the scams. In particular, not one of the thousands of brand name products offered by Gold Members is genuine - 100% of their brand name products are fake (this also includes brand name shoes, clothing etc etc as well as electronic products).
Concerning certification, are you aware that, by law, each model of each electronic and electrical product we import must be lab tested to gain the certification required by our respective countries - like USA, EU, Australia and etc? One or more Certificates such as UL, FCC, CE, A-Tick C-Tick etc are mandatory depending on our country. Of the tens of thousands of Chinese electronic / electrical products listed on Alibaba, only a dozen or so are properly certified for legal resale in our import countries.
To search for products which may be lawfully resold by you in your country, simply add the certificate name to the search word. For example, to import into EU search for "mobile phone CE". Or, for USA, search "mobile phone FCC". Use that same technique for every other sort of electronic or electrical product and with a bit of perserverance you might find legal product. However, whether the supplier's product certificate is fake or genuine is another story. ![]()
You are absolutely correct ! But I think otherwise, I am very curious why there are still so many China electronics products manufacturers exist and keep innovated their new series to get more customers, how they survive with such a long time still around ?
I agree with you electronic products from China though is not reliable, but their products features, performance and pricing are worth for new customers keep importing electronic products from China.
Well for me, I am most happy to import electronic products that I think there are potential in my local or overseas market. It is because I would like to improve them locally and then re-sale to local and overseas, so far so good. To me electronic products from China are my niche products, I re-invent them to a better quality products, much easy and faster to design and produce it from new.
Let's consider Product Certification.
As I said earlier, 99.9% of all prescribed electronic products offered by mainland China sellers are not certified for legal resale in most other countries - certifications like CE, UL, FCC, A-Tick, C-Tick, etc, etc, depending on the country of destination.
There are two key reasons why most Chinese electronic (and electrical) products are not certified for legal sale in other countries:-
First, many Chinese products do not meet the minimum safety design standards and thus could never be certified.
Second, certification is too expensive for those Chinese suppliers who do make good product. For example, getting USA/UL certification for a humble little 9 volt battery smoke alarm costs $100,000USD (yet there are many Chinese made smoke alarms which would meet the UL standard if the Chunese factories could afford the UL certification).
That little smoke alarm example extends to the thousands of different sorts of Chinese electronic and electrical products - right down to every mains power electrical cord and electrical plug associated with the devices.
The same applies to any device which emits radio signals, like mobile phones and Bluetooth type producs - which must be lab tested/certified for safe level of radio emissions.
Consumer safety is the reason compulsory certification exists in all developed countries. Poorly made mains power electrical components can kill people while excess radio emissions can cause health problems and interfere with other equipment.
Mobile phones attract particular attention from authorities because they (a) use both mains power devices (battery chargers) and (b) emit radio waves which must be tested for compliance.

FIRST: You are right. But some products MEETS the standards. So why dont buying them???
SECOND:sometimes it is worth spending lots of money in research of some products. The benefit when selling them wil tell you.![]()
your conclusion just come out bu your personal experience, what I want to stress is you are a unfortunate guy, there are some honest suppliers you give up, but choose the bad and fake one, and then attribute your own failur on all chinese market, i tsi really short-sighted, and unresponsible.
If I am you, I 'd do some self-critism but blaming others
Replying to Hossa:
Yes, but only about 1 in 1,000 mainland China electronic and electrical products are properly certified for legal sale in developed countries. That's not a colourful guess. It's from my 25 years experience in dealing with China.
And yes, my company places quite a lot of large orders for properly certified stuff from China (which is like finding needles in haystacks).
Replying to sue:
I am the first to agree that there are many honest and good suppliers in China but unfortunately they are as useless as teats on a bull to us Western buyers because their products are not certified for legal sale in developed countries. Haven't you ever heard of CE, UL, FCC, A-Tick, etc, etc?
Talking about good stuff from China, my wife of 15 years is "made in China" ... Beijing-ese actually ... top quality pure Chinese whom I wouldn't swap for the world. ![]()
Jerry my friend, you don't get it!
Your relative's two-way radio is NOT CERTIFIED for legal sale in developed countries.
Your device emits radio signals. Therefore, it must be tested by a recognised lab and CE or FCC or A-Tick certified before it can be lawfully imported and sold by EU, USA or Australian buyers respectively. Same applies to battery chargers associated with the device.
