It has been three months now since I sent payment and ordered for TyTN II from Shenzhen Era Co., Ltd. What I received is a reconditioned Nokia 8800 in Sirocco casing instead. Added to this, the unit is defective (won't turn power on even with new battery). I have religiously contacted company since then and now have not heard from them for over a month.
I informed Alibaba.com about the problem and even sent pertinent documents to support my claim and yet this is all they can say:
"We can understand your feeling. But Alibaba.com is only an Internet-based platform for exchanging information between buyers and suppliers of products and services. Alibaba will never be involved in the trade activities between our members or guarantee for any trade. So you are nevertheless suggested to contact the supplier to resolve your dispute through good faith mediation directly. You can also consult your local Chamber of Commerce or embassy for advice to put an end to this case. If necessary, you can choose to bring a lawsuit against the supplier. If you are able to prove in court that the supplier engaged in fraud, we will suspend or terminate the supplier's account."
"Alibaba is an information exchange platform and cannot guarantee the result
of the mediation. We have contacted this company but have not got any
feedback till now. In such cases, we still highly recommend you report it to
police to end your case."
Alibaba has no teeth and cannot even reprimand companies in fraudulent acts, considering this is their Gold member. How many of us customers will need to suffer before they put an end to this kind of fiasco.
If Alibaba wants to maintain good reputation, then they have to maintain good, legitimate companies as well. They must get rid of professional swindlers in their ranks. They have to get rid of bad tomatoes else they will rot too.

I wish Alibaba must do something about it otherwise the business model should fail. I have a similar case posted at

I am wondering if Alibaba can come up with something like ebay for the business feedback on each other. Then every people care about the feedback and check up some rogue compnaies before any business decisions.
What do you guys think?

IS THIS ALL YOU CAN SAY??? I know there a lot of us out there that have been swindled by this company and yet find no appropriate actions from your end. We need actions from you, not emails that will look into the problem and and no solutions!

Thanks for the comment, Sung. I guess Alibaba is half to blame for my transaction with alleged company, since I ask for a background check and this is their answer:

Dear Mr. Buenjeres Bausanta,
Thanks for your email.
" ... Shenzhen Era Impression Art Designs Co., Ltd. is a Gold Supplier on our website, which has passed an authentication and verification process performed by a third-party credit reporting agency; inasmuch, it is legitimate company. And a check of the questioned company's record indicates no complaint or other negative feedback. But, as business is always full of risks, while there is no adverse information in our records, we can never guarantee it is 100% safe to trade with this paid member. And we don't know if they are the same company. You need to check their reputation through additional means, such as offline contact and factory inspection.

I would not have made my order if not for Alibaba comment that said company has clean record. I guess, Alibaba.com should be responsible for false information.

Hi, Buenjeres,
This company has been removed from Alibaba.com already.
Quoting from [Safe Trading Admin]:Hi, Buenjeres,

Yeah, right. They just have changed name to: Shenzhen Xinli Commerce Co., Ltd. They are even still using their Western Union account where I sent payment:
First name: Yan
Last name: Jiang
Address: Shenzhen, Guangdong, China
Zip code: 581000
Why don't you visit their site at www.ec-king.com and you will see for yourself they are still using ec-vip.en.alibaba.com in their recommend window.
Beware of Shenzhen Xinli Commerce Co., Inc. It is the same company parading as new, legitimate company but they are involved in fraudulent acts.
