Replying to [Business in China]: Could you please let me know
how I am to deal with a container of inferior shaggy floor rugs?
The first container was beautiful, the 2nd container was of poor
quality, and the wrong colours had been sent in 2 cases. I am
looking for compensation. What proceedures should I follow.
This company advertise on Alibaba.

My suggestion:
Firstly please contact your supplier in China and try to solve this issue in an amicable way. Secondly you'd contact local Chinese government authorities and write a report to local administrative bureaus in China. Thirdly, you'd better employ a local lawyer to file a lawsuit against your Chinese partner.

This means, a pre-shipment inspection is very important when you import something from a Chinese supplier. Good luck ! [em1][em1]

Replying to [Aussie]:Dear Aussie,
Many thanks the link..it has great insight. Your post also has been found useful. I've read it many times.
We are discussing 'Factory Audit'.
Mr. Tony has touched on..
1. Factory Audit Culture..
2. Factory Verification Audit..I really don't know what he means by this
3. Factory Quality System Audit..ways/methods/process adopted to check/maintain/improve/standards/procedures etc..etc..to bring about a quality end product.

No where has he mentioned 'Factory Audit'
.
When we use the phrase 'Factory Audit'..we are officially examining the accounts to see that they are in order and I repeat once again that this job is the work of an registered practitioner..who knows how to read a 'Balance Sheet' and has the authority to attest/verify them.
Mr. Tony has mentioned a word 'Capability of the Seller'...
How can he find out the capability of a seller ..whether the seller can really supply 40 cfl per year or not ?

Replying to [Business in China]: Thank you so very much for writting this article. I am just starting out and still in the business plan stage. Searching for manufactures and sourcing information is far from being an easy task. The main question is always, "how do you know who to trust?" You have given me some badly needed insight and it is extremely appreciated.

Yes, this is a key issue.
Seeing is believing, so the best way is to confirm with local government authorities or employ a third party company or individual to visit them in person.
I was also cheated by two USA companies last year. We have to do more Due Diligence work before payment. A successful international trade contains too many factors anyway.[em18][em18]

I am astonished that even those non-existent companies were given rating by Alibaba..." Gold / Trustpass members "...yet they were all found to be lacking the basic....how can any one believe and go by the rating of Alibaba or for that matter any other rating agency? It is now for ALIBABA to evolve a strategy to qualify a member for any kind of rating.

Your article is really nice and helpful to oversea buyers, but i hope you are not taking this chance to PROMOTE your business, otherwise i will feel it a scam!

Yes, I agree with you here. Our factory visitation report or audit can help lot of small businessmen smooth their business in China as we're local Chinese.....You can save lot of travelling expenses and time to visit your Chinese suppliers in person. Also it's easier for scammers to cheat you in China as you're foreigners and know nothing about Chinese...Our services can be of great help to some small and mid-sized foreign buyers sometimes.

FINALLY,WILL/CAN THEIR BANKS VOUCH FOR THEM AND ALSO CAN ALIBABA VOUCH FOR THEM TOO?????.
MANT THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ESTEEMED HELP AND ADVICE AS IT WILL SAVE ME A LOT OF HEADACHES,SORROWS,TENSIONS AND LOSSES IN THE LONG RUN AS WE ARE A SMALL TO MEDIUM PRIVATE COMPANY.

Here are my answers:

Question 1. Please contact me for details on our service fee for verifying different companies in China.
ALSO,IS IT SAFE TO ASSUME A COMPANY TO BE "SAFE" IF THEY PROVIDE US WITH THEIR COMPANY BANK ACCOUNT AND THEIR COMPANY REGISTERATION AND LICENCES,ETC.

My answer: The problem is that your partners may submit you some fake documents or the so called official certificates if you know nothing about Chinese. In China, you can make all the fake documents or certificates, including the 'official seals' with enough money. So first of all you have to know whether their licenses are legal or not.

FINALLY,WILL/CAN THEIR BANKS VOUCH FOR THEM AND ALSO CAN ALIBABA VOUCH FOR THEM TOO?????.

Answer: No banks in China will guarantee your international business at my end, so will Alibaba. You have to note that a successful international trade contains too many factors........

Good luck to everybody!
