Request an escrow account. I have found, that with the legitimate sellers, an escrow, or COD is an acceptable form of payment. Just be careful with COD, because you still have to pay before you open the box! Have a great day! :)

Now, as far as PayPal goes, I am not a big fan. Now, I am not saying this as a scammer either. I am an eBay Seller, with a ProStores website (eBay owned) and a PayPal Merchant Account (also eBay owned). So, you'd think I would be biased the other way. I am not. PayPal takes certain liberties with people's money and decides when you can and when you can not have access to any of the funds in your account. Sometimes for no apparent reason, they will "limit" your account preventing you from paying anyone out of your paypal account (including shipping companies) or taking any money out of your account. (to pay for shipping elsewhere) until you have shipped every single item that has been paid for, and they have waited for an undisclosed ever changing amount of time, to make sure the customer was satisfied and has no diputes to file. However, if this takes longer than 18 months, I have been told, they will allow you to withdraw money from the account on a case by case basis at their discretion.
So, for the question of "Why don't sellers take PayPal?" The answer is simple, because they want to get paid. Anyone who accepts PayPal, also has to accept the fact that they might not get paid for the product they are selling. It's a crap shoot!

Paypal? They are one of the worst companies I have ever dealt with. They behave like pirates, finding the most flimsy excuse to hold on to your money! Don't trust them!

I am new to this and got burned on my first purchase by www.topaba.com Do no purchase from this company.  Their website claims to be a member of Alibaba but they are not.  They will promise you anything to get you to send them money.

I now see that my experience is typical, unfortunately.  I wired the payment.  3 weeks later I received the 25 pcs of the wrong item instead of 125 of the correct item, and the items arrived damaged in poor packaging.  They blame it on customs and kept saying they would make it right, don't worry.  It has been almost 2 months.  I reported this to Alibaba but they stated that www.topaba.com is not a member so there is nothing they will do....that I need to verify the membership before doing business with a company to make sure the company is a member, and therefore legit. 

When you submit a buying lead, it must get sold out to members and non-members because once I submitted the lead, I was contacted by several non-members who had my information exactly as I had submitted it to Alibaba, so I assumed they were members at the time.

Is there a trade agency in China where we can report this fraud?  I have to think the Chinese government would frown upon this fraud because it damages China's trade reputation?  I have a complete paper trail.  I thought Alibaba would want to try to help since this also tarnishes their reputation.

Regarding Paypal:  I was foolish enough to place an order with a different company (an Alibaba member this time).  I would only go through with the purchase via Paypal.  When they couldn't deliver the product they promised, I received a full refund from them.  that company is www.easterndigital.com.cn . Although i have not had a completed transaction with them yet, the fact that they refunded me bodes well for them and makes me think that going through Paypal helped.

Wilhelm! Right, you are. Paypal is not safe way of payment on International trading as like western union. This point is effective both to seller and buyer. If domestic transaction, this payment way is useful. 

I'm also have samequestions, why don't you use PayPal for trading. In my opinions, all they are Scammers in Alibaba.com. who don't want to use PayPal. For using PayPal, there has many way who don't have Credit Card. If you don't have credit card, you can use International Ckeck Card or Debit Card. And open account to Moneybooker or E-pay, and transaction fund to PayPal. You can use PayPal account immediatelly. If you have U.S B-accounts, that is more easy for using PayPal. Do you want to know how can open U.S B-accounts? Please contact me, I will teach you how can open U.S Account without visiting USA Of course, you must be paid small coin like donate to any place.. LOL.. And PayPal has safety settlement systems, too. We are strong recommend to using PayPal.

Just type 'Paypal horror story' into Google and you will see why more people aren't using this company.

To protect yourself from fraud buyer - you need to take a picture of order what took the buyer, put there your company name, filled up request on delivery company and check of the same.

Paypal is easy to talk - they will come forward if you will do the same.

Minuses for CHinese - MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THEY SAY THEY HAVE ORIGINAL products, but all what they sell is fake products, like iPhone 3g s 32gb for 200 dollars. They know that if they will send copy - customer will put fraud report on this. So i see this is good that PAYPAL takes from their account money, this makes feel better for buyer... second minus - paypal takes too much fees.
Third: Most chinese is fakes here - what is 2k usd to scamm from someone and then pay to alibaba.com to put gold supplier, then after that scamm another 10k usd.

Why i am thinking like this ? - i have been scammed a lot times trusting to people in here. Have made Bank transfers, Western Union etc....


And yes - DONT EVER USE WU OR MONEY GRAM! - ITS NOT safe - also WU homepage is saying that dont send money whom you dont trust. - also i cant understand why companys who is legit accepts this - yes,, for them its ok, in minutes gets money, but the fees for buyer? Its ridiculous how popular this WU is at China. Also - some companys dont check their employeers, i have red a lot things that employee sometiems gives his details to send him, in the meantime the hurt gets the company where this fu***** employee works.

Personally i think Chinizers is not so good business men, only few there is really honest and good at this, but mostly - there is only fake people who even cant speak in English, but sits at chat and cant say nothing logical.

So, if there is paypal buyers - i can sell you mobile phones/laptops etc... for big orders i can take L/C, escrow.com etc....

MOstly we use Bank Transfer.

Some e-bay sellers do not like PalPal because of the additional fees (you already pay a fee to list items, a fee to add selling features, and a percentage of the transaction) plus it takes extra time to process the transaction. Buyers do not like it for the same reason plus it excludes other options such as postal money orders and guaranteed checks. For large purchases it offers buyer protection but for small purchases say under $20 it's a belt and suspenders approach and overkill.
