Browsing the forums I found that there are actually plenty of fraudsters on alibaba. A posting that I read about Benin fraudsters was particularly useful as I was also approached by one.


To avoid tarnishing the good name of my country, I want to tell all of you how to verify traders from Malaysia. As you can see I have a business registration no. All businesses and companies have this.


You can verify the existence of a business or a company by doing a name search on this website: "http://www.ssm.com.my/cariannama.php". This website belongs to the Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia or Companies Commission of Malaysia. It regulates all matters involving the registration and operating of companies and businesses.


You can then search the name of the business or company by clicking on one of the two options: ROC search or ROB search.


The ROC search or Registrar of Companies Search is to search companies. Companies in Malaysia is defined as a private or public company limited by shares and they are considered a separate legal entity. Companies must have a minimum authorized capital of RM100,000.  Companies have the designation Sendirian Berhad(Sdn Bhd) or Berhad(Bhd) at the back of their names. It is similar to the Private Limited or Limited deisgnation of other countries.


The ROB search or Registrar of Business Search is to search businesses. Businesses are defined as enterprises operated by a sole proprietor or through partnerships. They are not separate legal entities and they do not have a minimum authorized capital.


By searching on the SSM website, you can verify if it is on the register of the SSM. This is one step in verifying the existence of the company or business. If it does not show up on either search then that company is obviously bogus. You can send a complain to SSM by clicking e-Aduan.


But just verifying the existence of the company is not enough. You may want access to the company's profile and records. The SSM website will offer this at a price. I'm not sure how much they charge but they will accept Visa/Mastercard. That will make it easy for foreigners to check the records online. It should be around RM10-20 per search. Purchasing the company profile will give you access to the company's own profile, the company's article of association, memorandum of association, Form 24 and Form 49. The  AoA and the MoA will give a description of the business carried out by the company. Form 24 and 49 will show who are the directors of the company, its company secretary, its managers, and also its authorized and paid up capital. You can make a better assessment from the details that you will find. Obvious warning signs are two bit companies i.e. their paid up capital is only RM2, meaning that the company has only two directors and each only paid RM1 as paid up capital. Difference in the names given can also be a sign of fraud so read carefully.


Well I hope this will help traders out there. With this knowledge they can easily verify and find out about the background of the Malaysian traders that they will be entering into contract with.

We need Malaysian intermediary to check some companies there, inspect goods and make shipping to us.

We have some companies offering us paper A4,A3 but not sure that they are trustfull companies.

Hi, Just had a horrid experience with a Malasyan trader, the company is BSB Electronics Ltd Great Harwood Singapore the name of the trader is Mr Jeged Mailo. I wanted to purchase cellphone nokia 97 which he assured he had them in stock, we agreed to a price which was 300usd of each items. I only wanted one so I could test this new instrument and ensure that the trader was legit. We came to an agreement and forward him my shipping address and the money via wester union to Kuala Lumper, I thought it was a bit strange why a company trading in Singapore would want money send somewere else. However I just followed his instruction, money was fowarded but I did not receive any goods, an email was send to me by Mr Jeged saying that his CEO could not sign the release of the goods as its company regulation to buy 5 items or more. This really shocked me because we had an agreement and he said once the money is received he will forward the good and will send me tracking code. This saga has gone on and on and so far no goods send to me and I have lost my money. I would like to say I will never again do business with the far east or Malasya I may have lost money but I gained experience. Just a warning this MR Jeged has not a trading businees in Singapore this was tested by sending him money via Western Union to Singapore under his own name, he was totally upset and he could not retreive the cash. 

This is an Indonesian scammer using Singapore address and contact details.
