I am looking into setting up an import and Export Trading business in Indonesia.

I will probably deal with lots of stuff; apparels, shoes, bags, costume jewelleries, saundries . Well, wahtever that will sell to low income people over there

Though Indonesia is our neighbour and I do speak their language but the problem is that I do not know much about their policies for setting up a business like what I am looking at.

I am planning to go there end of August to do a market research and will stay there for about 3 months. If all goes well, I am planning to ship about 5-6 containers of goods every month

I will also need to find suppliers in China who can supplier me with almost anything from TV sets right down to undies

Can anyone out there give me some feedbacks?

After having spent 15 years in Indonesia, I would recommend that you did a complete survey before having this venture.

I can arrange for market survey over there. Youw ill also need to know about their regulation with regard to setting up of office.

Then I will also advise you to understand their culture and customs a little better,

Also those product you mentioned came in abundunt in Indonesia, thats why market survey is important.

Then again, there is much more rich business people there in Indonesia then we really know, and these people are monopolising much of the market. But still there will be opportunity since Indonesia has more them 200 millions people and many are habitual spender, thats why their retail market is good.

In my opinion you set up an office here and form a new registered company it shoud not cost much and find local partner if possible to comunicate with government official,local market and manage daily operation or just manage your self since you can speak our language,it's a good "starting capital"...
