listen business is business the definition of business is not big quantity or small quantity but its trade .it could be big or small ,i think every order is vital for a small business to grow if there are 10000 big companies & there are more than a million small cmpanies.every big company must have a small setup to manufacture small quantity with low pricing ,this will help the small businesses to flourish and one day there will be more big companies than small.

I agree with you. Remember all companies started small then became huge company sooner or later. As a suppliers or dealers, they must entertain  any various size of quantity from the buyers or traders that they're dealing with, for it is still a sale. Its better  to have  sale or none at all.

You try telling the factories in China and those F&%$#@% will stick their F&^%$#@ middle at you

Must entertain?.... Yes, 90% of dealers and trading companies are always trying to entertain  whether big or small. But the biggest problem are  the manufactures. Most will say minimum 2000pieces per style per color.  I have got one T-Shirt manufacturer who told me their MOQ is 30,000 pcs and another down jacket manufacturer who quote me a bloody ridiculous price( 280RMB) and his MOQ is 5000pcs per style per color.  He refused to produce a counter sample. He told me to sign a contract and placed the order first before he produce a counter sample. [em6][em6][em6]Absolute . I am not mentally retarded.

That ime it gave me the personal satisfaction of sticking my middle finger at both  these factories.

we could set up a website per world region that sells smaller quantities of your products. This would mean 1 big buyer per world region that sells to the small business. I'd like to take western europe under my wings. We could set this up easily. let's talks and see wat happens. jurgen@mijnwebservie.nl

I am sure most of us have seen a lot of trade leads by small businesses looking for small quantity of products to be manufactured.

I know many of them are not making any headway as most manufacturers do not want to entertain them.  They deem all these buyers as troublesome and the margin of profit is too low for them. So why waste time with them.

Fair enough these manufacturers have got the points but is there a way out for these small businesses. I know there are a few people doing the sourcing for these small buyers, but does anyone of these sourcing agents find these buyers too demanding?

I have seen trade leads from these buyers asking for the sky and only willing to pay peanuts.

I once had a buyer whom I was dealing with and he refused to say how much he was ordering.  I asked a few times and he said his order will be substantial.

Not wanting to offend him I kept the negotiation going and finally  he send me all the details and pictures of his brand/logos and names for the counter samples.

All these was done within 10 days and the samples were sent to him (6 samples)

I had a shock of my life when this guy came back to me to place the order.

Size 36 -45 (6 styles)

Color and quantity for each size

*Light Blue 2 pairs*  *White 2pairs* *Black 2 pairs*   *Brown 2 pairs*  *Navy 2 pairs*

That may be substantial to him but to us the the factory it is one * of a bloody mess. I emailed him asking if he had made a mistake on the qty and he said no.

Bloody *, me old heart almost stop beating.

[em5][em5][em5][em5]

But we have to look at those  non fussy small quantity buyers. They simply want to buy things in  small quantity for their store or business. How do we really help these people?

Oh, whenever someone wants to buy small quantities..I am happy about that!

small buyers should buy from importers, and not staight from the foreign manufacturer.

It is therefore up to the sales dept. and production dept. to determine  the minimum quantities acceptable for ecport.

I think some are consumers who like to buy goods made in China.

MOQ is a poblem faced by factory, for goods exported are packed as per customers' needs, such as logo, marks, instruction sheet. FOr example, instruction sheet has to be printed i batch or the factory will not gain a profit for they have to master make specially.

So importer and exporter should understand each other and jointly find ways and solutions out.

I have a question to ask:

Do importers only have interest in contacting exporter who offers his lowest price, just ignore other possilble questions, such as qualtiy and credit standing?

Manufacturer's profit has to be reduced to lowest in this transparent competition on market.

The article was good and what i do is after making sure i give the buyer prices and ask him to pick the pieces he needs from my local agent whcih i have in place at the very cost i supply to my agent because this ensures my agent will get another avenue open and also the cost of  freight would be saved upon. This ensures my expansion too.

I also insist on a MOQ which keeps sample hunters off. and sticking to this principle saves me ulcers

All Big Business grew from small enterprises, but transperency will be apreciated and rewarded
