Define Cheap?
Post 1 of 20
I keep seeing it and seeing it all the time in the forums. Cheap products are a threat to this country or that country. If an item is made cheap meaning it is not of good quality the company may see a brief influx of money but then consumers will become aware and not re-buy from them.

Example:

Company A from US produces 24Kms brake pads for 12$USD per pair

Company B from India produces 24Kms brake pads for 8$USD per pair

Company C from China produces 24kms brake pads for 6$USD per pair

It doesnt mean any of them are cheaply made it could be nothing more than the margin of profit, cost of raw materials, manufacturing process, and labor. If you can't compete on price or better quality than you need to find other products or markets where you can or improve the quality.

If your trying to break into a market doesn't it make good sense to sell cheaply at a lower profit margin and as name brand recognition gains, slowly increase your profit margin. Its just good business.

Best regards,
Ranger

Ranger,
I would define cheap as a product (irrelevant of price/cost) is of a manufature that shows that it is of low quality.

As you example says, price is not really part of "cheap". Cheap is a quality issue for pretty much everyone I know.

Would I buy a cheap product? Most often not. I would buy a cheap paintbrush if I had to slap some paint on the garage walls where brushstokes would not matter but I would not buy a cheap brush if was was painting the actual house since a cheap brush would make painting more difficult and leave brushstrokes/hairs etc.

Replying to [Ranger]:Cheap means, price is low, quality is low.

As you shown three price. Including price the quality should also be mentioned. As US quality may be better then India and China. As FOOW say, if he is going to Paint the garage then he may be buy cheap may be from China, and if he is going to paint the home he buy good quality may be buy the US product.

So, As per me cheap means both in low price also and it will be in low quality also.

But People think in other way may be..Cheap means low price.

Replying to [Foow]:

cheap and expensive ,

expensive and cheap ,

but one thing is ; it's hard to find a product in very cheap price ,
but in good quality . If the prodcut's price is so cheap that you cant image , it mean you cant image the quality either

Replying to [Ammeet]:Sorry Ammeet ! It is the negotiation or bargaining, you cannot call it cheap, I hereby agree with Foow, that cheap is considered in the sense of low quality. & For price I will suggest Kiloia & you to use the word as economical. As I just hate the word cheap, Cheap word itself is "CHEAP".

Ranger,
When you say a cheap person then you are not quantify him in terms of money and hence cheap is related with a Quality not quantity or price. Cheap humour or cheap thing anything is when you want to tell about the inferior quality.
