Post 1 of 8

Good Day,

my name is manuel , i have been a member of alibaba for a couple of years, i am not a very active forum guy. but i read a lot...

I am from venezuela, and i will be moving to xiamen, china for 1 year, my purpose is to make contacts with local business to make a long term relationship with them.., i believe in a win-win situation... i want to sell chinese products in my country.

i have had several business since i came from a business family, but im 25 years old, so i look pretty young,

my question is how to aproach business? how is the best way to make me a serious business partner? i might be looking for exclusive distribution deals, and those will take part in person, that is why i will spent a year in this city...

i could have a reference letter from FEDECAMARAS, that is the biggest business association in venezuela... i will be meeting the chinesse ambassador, should i ask him for a reference?

any coments will be highly appreciated!!

Factories in China want one thing from you....orders. The bigger the better.

So I think the most important thing is for you to show that you have the infrastructure and ability to actually proceed to orders after any visit that you may make.

Visiting suppliers yourself in person is a very good way to build confidence with those suppliers that you are a legitimate customer, but you will need to follow that up with orders.

I recommend that you set up an office and a website back home so that you can put together a name card and point of reference that factories can refer to when they want to understand who you are and what business prospects you hold for them.

Be sure to check that the products you are looking for are actually available in the Fujian area (Xiamen is an island so there is little to no production done there). Production in China is very much divided among cities and counties so you want to be sure that the product you are interested in is actually available there.

Oh and one other thing, factories in China generally know of each other so don't burn any bridges with suppliers that could come back to haunt you later.

First, welcome to Xiamen,it's a beautiful and civilized city in China.

I think credit standing & diligence are basic things to begin business.

Face is not very important about serious or not, action is more important.

Of course, learn some business skill is needed.

HI ,

For any successful business , the first thing is the vision .  Before coming to china , you need to study your country market . You need to know the requirements of your country and then focus on those items suppliers in China. If you are coming to china without any knowledge of your hometown then you will be confused by seeing so many products with so many varieties.

Wish you all the best for your new venture .

right now im looking for fireworks, (i think it is called), my english is not perfect, those thing we use in christmas and holidays...
