I am thinking of Going to China.
Post 1 of 20

Hi. I live in the USA and I am opening a clothing store soon. What I would like to know is where is the best places for me to go in China to purchase inventory for my store. I have a supplier that sells me shirts for $10.00usd at wholesale and I would assume that I can get them cheaper if I was to go to China and other things as well.

So can anyone give me some suggestions about doing this? Would I realy be saving money if I was to go to China?

If I did go to China, how would I handle the shipping? And is there an office that I should contact before or when i get to China?

Hi,

I personally think it is not a good idea to import from China or other countries.

Since you are opening a store, which means at beginning, it is impossible to have big quantity. And for the store, you need many designs.

The facoty will not be interested in small quantity, and the cost will be super high, if you just ask 50pcs/design, the factory will not do it. Before I nearly beggered the factory to produce 100pcs/desgin for me...

Maybe just buying from retail market in China...

Good luck.

You do not have to visit China at all. There are many wholesale stores in China online. You can contact and buy them at any times in a small quantity. If you buy directly from a factory, you have to place a big order. Please feel free to contact me for any question related. Take care!

Guangzhou will be your best choice here . Guangzhou has very professional markets for clothes ,either brand name or non brand name .

Frankly speaking , USD$10 for one shirt is not a good price for wholesale . Per my experience, generally speaking , one good quality shirt should cost you RMB25 at most .I have seen a lot of good quality Bape Tshirts with diamonds embossed  on at RMB25 only . If your order quantity is sizable , price even cheaper .

If you make the trip to Guangzhou , you may also try to see the bags markets , gifts and jewellery markets there .So it almost meets all your needs for a clothes store here .

If your cargo is small , just send by EMS or any other express company . Just to reminder that pls send through EMS agent not direclty go to China Post of EMS office as agents get better prices here .

If your cargo is big , try to contact some forwarder and they will arrange everything well on your behalf .

Good luck and welcome to explore China !

I do think you don't need to go to China. It is means that a great cost you have to pay. Athough there are hundreds of clothing markets spread all over in a large area of China, thousands of factories act as suppliers. But it doesn't mean that you have to go there to buy. E-business is a better way, or you may need to know a little bit chinese language to search in Chinese internet, which is mean that you can find more choices. So ask a friend who knows chinese for help, or pay less money to hire a assistant, or you can find a agent in China.

Hi , I am tina who is in south of China GuangZhou city. There are a lot of wholesales market in guangzhou city, such as shoe, clothese, toys, bags, gl ,etc. Many people come to GuangZhou for purchasing the goods and send back to their country by EMS, or UPS, FEDEX, DHL or by ocean. You can visit China for the first time for purchasing and then you can find a SOHO who you think she(he) is good to help you to purchase the goods in China. So that you don't need to come to China and save more money. You can tell the SOHO what you would like to buy , so that she can go to the market to find the sample and email you the picture, if you think it is ok, she can help you to place the order or send you one sample for checking firstly. If you need any help, you can contact me by  email :  tinacao0827@163.com   or MSN   tinacry@hotmail.com

Hope your business is getting better and better. Thank you!

Tina

It is much better for you to compare the price online than visiting China. You can seach more suppliers and send inquires in your office easily.

You not need to worry about the shipping, the supplier can handle the shipping well for you, as for shipping to your port or to your warehouse, both are ok for you, that depends on which one is convenient for you, suppliers can help you do that. If you worry about the quality, ask anyone to inspect them before shipment, that would be ok.
