Ship These by Sea only Cost $90.00?
Post 1 of 23
Hi,

I have a small business and have contacted through email a Company located in China that has some guitars that I am interested in.

They have told me that they can ship these by sea to me for a Price of $90.00 and said $90 is the freight of arriving at Phoenix warehouse.

I live in Phoenix Arizona, I'm thinking they mean shipping will arrive in LA?

What is the best way to then get these shipped to my address, I was told I need to find an LA import service?

I am just trying to gather some information before jumping in. thanks

I think it's possible ,not crazy. the important thing is they said that's freight, but not all the charge. if your goods measure under 2CBM, it possible.

You said you was told need to find an LA import service,it means you must declare goods to custom by yourself ,and pay any charges yourself also. I think it's normal a way.

If you want to avoid this perplexing things, you can deliver goods via express. but i promise it will cost much higher than 90$.

Hi,

Normally the sea freight  depends upon the volume . If your total guitar volume is less than 1 cbm then  the sea freight will be around $90 to $100 till LA  but beware these are not only the charges, for the US shipment, their is AMS and other charges which needs to be paid by supplier if he gave you FOB shenzhen port. Also their will be charges at your end for clearing the customs and paying cusoms duty . For clearing the customs it will be around $100 to $150 for one shipment and duty depending upon US customs. As some suggested that by DHL or fedex is better so i will suggest to check the volume weight as these companies charge minimum $20/kg .For calculating the volume weight . Multiply length x width x height and divide the total by 6000. This will be in Kg for one ctn and multiply it with number of cartons you have . Normally these companies charge the weight which is higher. If the Gr Wt of guitar is more than the volume weight then it will be charge as per the Gr Wt of the product. So compare both the prices of sea and using DHL before making final decision.Let us know if you need any other information

They Can ship it to you by Sea which is always cheaper than air mail , it will dock in LA and then by Train to a Pheonix Warehouse .

To Customs clear them you will need the fowlloing :

- Import Business Number which is very easy to get

-Invoice

-Certificate of origin ( if possible )

I hope this helps

FIRST OF ALL - DO THEY WANT YOU TO PAY FOR THE GUITARS  BY WIRE TRANSFER B4 SHIPMENT. IS SO DONT DO IT BECAUSE THE LOW FREIGHT CHARGE IS JUST A  ROUSE TO GET YOU  TEMPTED TO PAY THEM FIRST AND LATER THEY WILL EITHER NEVER SHIP YOU ANYTHING OR THEY WILL  CHIP IT FREIGHT COLLECT AND THAT WILL BE  100'S OF $  DEPENDING ON HOW MANY GUITARS YOU ARE BUYING.

ALWAYS BEWARE OF THE CHINESE IF YOU HAVE NO LONG TIME RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM

I guess the same way you think, and the cost of $90 US dollars is for shipping only.

In general, suppliers in China do not know how to do promotion job, and that is the reason they pile up products in their warehouse, and their business stay still. I have similar problems with them for years, and there is only way to do business with them is having an office in China, or at least, having a trip to China for personal contact.
